But when I was a dub I had an uncle who was DFed. At the time we were told not to talk to him so we didn't. Then there was a WT that said we could talk to them. I didn't see him again but my mother did and I remember she was happy to be able to have that freedom again - well until they changed the rules againYour teachings in the JW church are crazy and insane. Geeez. No wonder some of you just can't seem to catch yourself. It's not like that. Truely it is not. By the way why was your uncle DFed? What is DFed? Divorced? hibie

hibiscusfire:
DF = disfellowshipped
DA = disassociatedboth generally carry the meaning that the person is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses. In fact, the announcement of this status at the Kingdom Hall is now supposed to be that the person "is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses." Nobody knows whether they have been disfellowshipped (meaning judicial action by the congregation elders) or whether they have disassociated (generally regarded as voluntary, either by relinquishing membership verbally or in writing, or by actions that would be considered in opposition to JW beliefs - like joining the military or YMCA, or becoming an active member in a political party).
The difference between the two is similar to the difference between being fired from a job (DFd) or resigning (DAd).

Thanks for your dictionary Scully.
Oh I don't like that at all. So they disown you then? May I ask if the person who has been DFd was in some trouble would the JW church help them?
