I've never been to Vegas before, but I'm flying out in October for a business conference. I won't have a chance to do a lot of touristy things, but I'd like any advice, tips, etc. if you think of anything I should know since I'm a Vegas-virgin.

Don't live there but visited several times. Highly recommend the Beatles' LOVE show by Circ de Soleil. Buy your ticket now. For the best buffet, go to Aladdins.

    Have fun!

I love Vegas!! I'll be going back there in February or early March '08 for a girls weekend. I've only been there once and had a great time walking around the different hotels and driving to north vegas. Yeah, I know...total tourist! I drank a lot! I went there for two days then New Orleans for two. Talk about a drunk skunk. Madame Toussaid's was museum, $5 slots, fake Venice, and the House of Blues...good time.

Seeing the land was a gorgeous site-I find a western sunset to be a very beautiful thing.

Thanks! I have actually been to the House of Blues in New Orleans. It rocked! But it was absolutely packed, nowhere to sit. No offense to New Orleans folks, but I really didn't care for it too much. It was more than a little scary walking down Bourbon Street where 99.9% of people are absolutely wasted. A lot of homeless people too. (This was pre-Katrina). It was neat to have gone there, but I wouldn't care to go back.

Anyone else familiar with Las Vegas?

Just got back last week...saw the Phantom for the 2nd time and then went to see Anthony Cools? at Paris. His show was really hilarious - he's a hypnotist/comedy act - very adult, very raw, very uncensored. I wouldn't put myself up on that stage for anything but it's sure fun to watch those who will! If you like history, check out the Titanic exhibit which I believe is still on at the Tropicana - it's pretty amazing. sammielee

I don't, but I hear there's a bunch of werewolves out there this week. Be careful.

My daughter lives in Vegas. I'll pm you with contact info. The night-time water show at the Mirage is free and fabulous. The Bellagio has a neat free water show, too, but it's not as fab as the one at the Mirage. The Bellagio has the best gelato ever -- expensive, but a rare treat. Walk into the Bellagio hotel lobby and look at those glass flowers on the ceiling - a masterpiece! Caesar's Palace has free shows in the "shops" area.

The Tournament of Kings show at the Excalibur is a good deal. (Hook up with my daughter because locals can sometimes get discount tickets to shows.) This show has knights on horseback in a large arena setting - those horses are incredible!

Where will you be staying? What kinds of activities do you enjoy? There's never enough time to do everything in Sin City.

    Regards,

Thanks everyone. My dad mentioned the Bellagio water show. Definitely have to check that out. I'll be staying in the Wynn Hotel and Casino, which is not far from the Bellagio.

Sassy-I'm from Lafayette. If you attended the DC at Notre Dame in the early 90s, we might have crossed paths or been in the unending line for the women's bathroom at the same time. Who knows?
