I was thinking about something a CO told me when it came to him working as a CO and him and his wife getting out to do things other than this. He told me of one activity that he hopes they will be able to do sometime soon. The activity is within a 15 minute drive of where they currently live and it can be done in within any time frame they wish. The way he was talking made it sound like they never get to do anything, and to do this, which is really in a sense an everyday thing for me, seemed like a monumental task for them to carry out.

How balanced do you think COs and DOs are when it comes to other activities? From your observations of other traveling managers overseers, do they MAKE time for other outside activities?

Your CO is basically full of crap.

They have more free time than most normal people who work at full time jobs and care for a family.

He is creating a smoke screen for you. He wants you to think he is just so busy that it is a very difficult thing to fit in a recreational activity that takes just an hour or two.

The truth of the matter is that regular people work all week, then they have a book study or at least field service on Saturday morning and then have the meeting on Sunday and possibly even service again. Where is the true day off? NOWHERE!

CO's get Monday free and clear, and all day Tuesday until the evening. They might tell you they need to prepare for the week, but that is BS. The Tuesday night talk is the same bloody talk they give everywhere on Tuesday. He doesn't get specific until the elders meeting on Thursday night and the Friday night service talk, so he doesn't really need to prepare squat on Monday or Tuesday.

Whoever your CO is - he is obviously an ass. Sorry to be so blunt, but that kind of talk from a CO is just too ridiculous to let slide.

The average 40 hour worker takes the 40 hours out of his week, and commutes about
10 hours a week. That's 50 hours there. If he's a JW, he has 5 hours of meetings
with 3 hours of commute for that (back and forth locally 3 times).

The C.O. has the 5 hours of meetings, plus the 3 hours of commute. Add in the
2-3 hours with elders, usually on Friday evening, and the 2-3 hours with pioneers,
giving an extra hour to each for commuting. That's 16 hours so far. They meet for
service on Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat. Each day of service is possibly 6 hours at the most.
We can be generous and give them 7 for that. 7 times 4 is 28.

28 plus 16 equals 44 hours a week. Add an hour to prepare the report on the cong.
to send to HQ. Not a bad week. Remember, the average dub
has to make the meetings, and is expected to make weekly service and meeting
    preparation.

So, an average dub has 50 hours of obligation every week, plus all the dub stuff.
A C.O. has 45 hours of obligation every week, and it's all dub stuff.
I don't envy the lifestyle, but don't cry for these unpaid volunteers. Also, don't
forget that the average dub has meals to prepare, while the average C.O. is catered
to. The average dub pioneers and elders pay for his Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts and
give him green handshakes everyday. Their weekend is Sunday afternoon through
Tuesday afternoon. They give the same talks for 6 months straight.

my opinion is he wants someone to pay for it, if it cost any money

I dont ever want to hear how the CO's dont get to do anything.

I thought they stayed at home at night when they were visiting like I always had to do,

everynight the congo had something planned for them, plays, dinners, movies, shopping trips

When I was at my brothers funeral, the PO that was there to do the talk, got a call for a holiday trip, all paid for by someone in his congo.

My mother paid for all the travel expenses of this PO and his wife, they stayed at her house, and she fed them. I am her daughter and did not get that.

They don't get anymore or less time than I do, but they have a mulititude of congregations that look after their recreation. The same goes for those at Bethel.

dang I am bitchy this am.

There is only one reason why the hounder-hounder makes everyone think he has no time for recreation. That is so that the publishers will be more willing to give up recreation and entertainment themselves. It is true that they usually have Monday and most of Tuesday off, since they repeat talks. But if they can appear to have no time, that can be used to encourage everyone else to make even more sacrifice. All illusions.
