  They Maya had several calendars. The one in question is the Long Count calendar.

  or 1 baktun, 1 katun, 1 tun, 1 unial

  a unial= 20 days
  tun 18 unial or 360 days
  katun 7 tun or 7200 days
  baktun 20 katun or 144,000 days (395 years)

  or 1.1.1.1 = 420 years after 0.0.0.0. with 13.0.0.0 being the last day of the calendar. Logically after the cycle 13.0.0.0 just rolls back to 0.0.0.0 and starts over

  No one really knows when 0.0.0.0 was so no one really knows what day 13.0.0.0 is.

  Have cycles ended before in the Mayan calender? I know they stopped on this date, but didn't they have to stop somewhere? Its math and does not really relate to a real situation,? Another Y2k hysteria type thing? playing the devils advocate

  I was 'browsing' a book in a store just last week. I didn't have the money to get it that day, I may go back later this week and grab it. As I recall, there were 2 'possibilities'. An asteroid would collide with the earth and destroy all life, or we would be able to blow up the asteroid (think the movie Armageddon and the other one I can't recall the name of, released around the same time) and save the earth, but still experience a meteor show that would cause considerable damage.

  One of those books that claims to be able to 'decode' the bible, how it predicted events such as 9/11, assasination of JFK etc... As I said, I was low on money and well, there was another book on Ancient Cults that looked much more appealing...

  Last night I took a big dose of ayahuasca and I will just paste what I posted another thread about what I saw and felt:

  Heavy tripping last night, on ayahuasca, along with Tibetian drumming, and me with rattle in hand. Got possesed with a sorcerer architype called "Wambo", He says "What Wambo wants Wambo takes". He was a fierce warrior with power, who has compassion and love for all humankind, and all nature, but will take no shit from those who think they are rulers, but are just greedy insane materialist.

  The thought also etched in my mind was about the Mayan calander ending 2012,that this is a time of great unstabilization with human governments, who are motivated by greed and lust for power as they yeild to forces brought into existance by thier own greed. The outcome of this tempest was uncertain in the visions I recieved, hopefully it will be a time of consciousness expansion for the surviviors which will make them more friendly to all species we share this planet with.

  I also saw the President as suffering with extreme mental illness brought on by powerful sorcerers as a recompense for his lack of concern, and needless loss of life, brought on in part by his phobia of those he considers the "enemy". His mental illness is already apparent, but in time will be seen by all.

  The apocalyptic possibilities of planet alignment in 2012 are both 'possible' and 'not possible.'

  The Earth has ALWAYS suffered cataclysmic occurences that appear to have, on a regular basis, returned the human race to its fragile beginnings in technology.

  Planet alignment may and may not cause the Earth Crust to shift cataclysmically, literally causing mass Earth quakes and altering our magnetic pole. Then again it may not. We do not know what gravitational forces may come into play when the planets align, all we do know is that it is very likely than the Earth's Poles have shifted before with apocalyptic results. (Charles Hapgood's 'The Path of the Pole' is a theory that Albert Einstein agreed with.)

  Perhaps we return to the stoneage technology after 2012 if the masses of humanity are killed and few survive. Then again, perhaps nothing at all will happen. We will have to wait and see. The one thing that IS certain, is that the Earth is already changing climate, and only part of it is caused by us. We are basically just accelerating natural changes.

  Change is afoot! How big a change....we are soon to find out.
