Here are some comments from the WT publications on what the ark of Noah's day represent. Basically, the witness organization. If you ain't a witness and in the "organization" you will die at Armageddon. Just reporting, not supporting.
*** w51 11/15 pp. 680-681 par. 20 Baptism for Salvation and Fire Baptism ***That which corresponds with the ark is Jehovah God’s theocratic system over which he has placed the antitypical Noah, Christ Jesus. This Son of God is also a builder like Noah, and he tells us that he builds his church or congregation upon himself as the Rock. (Matt. 16:18) Moreover, at Hebrews 1:1, 2, 8, 9, we read that he is a "preacher of righteousness" by whom God has spoken to us and "whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the systems of things". (NW) The ark which this Greater Noah constructs consists of a new system of things, a new divine arrangement which affords us protection and preserves us for eternal salvation. The congregation, the theocratic organization which he builds, must live within this new system of things and must think, speak and work in harmony with it. This ark or theocratic structure is the laughingstock of the world, because it is built according to God’s instructions and for his purpose. It is different! The world has seen nothing like it and does not understand it.
*** w86 1/1 p. 14 par. 18 Days Like "the Days of Noah" ***As a place of security and survival, the ark represents the spiritual paradise that Jehovah has been building up among his worshipers since 1919. It is the condition of a restored peaceful relationship with God. It is His arrangement for preservation of the Greater Noah’s antitypical family through the "great tribulation."—Matthew 24:21; 1 Corinthians 3:9, 11; 2 Corinthians 12:3, 4; Revelation 7:13, 14.
*** w06 5/15 p. 22 par. 8 Are You Prepared for Survival? ***Just as Noah and his God-fearing family were preserved in the ark, survival of individuals today depends on their faith and their loyal association with the earthly part of Jehovah’s universal organization.
*** w74 11/1 p. 668 par. 22 A Prophetic Drama That Foreshadowed Survival ***For the worshipers of Jehovah, his Christian witnesses, to get safely through that tribulation, their symbolic ark, the spiritual paradise, must remain, with them staying inside.
*** w51 11/15 p. 683 par. 27 Baptism for Salvation and Fire Baptism ***When the ancient world ended, one’s being inside the ark was a symbol of being baptized into Noah under the theocratic system of things.
*** w86 1/1 pp. 25-26 par. 18 Building for an Eternal Future ***But why,’ someone may ask, ‘are there so many expansion projects when we stand face-to-face with Armageddon?’ The answer is that Jehovah’s organization does not ‘close up shop’ with the approach of Armageddon. That is ‘closing time’ only for Satan’s organization. Jehovah’s organization is building for an eternal future. Whether or not man-made structures weather the storm of Armageddon, we know that God’s organization will survive as a going concern and that Jehovah will use it and those who loyally support it, establishing eternal peace and security in the glorious earthly Paradise of God’s promise.—Revelation 7:9, 14-17; 21:1, 4, 5.
*** w86 1/1 p. 18 par. 6 Building for an Eternal Future ***What is the modern-day ark of survival? It is the spiritual situation in which Jehovah’s Witnesses have found themselves since 1919, a spiritual paradise. Like Noah’s family members, the remnant of anointed Christians and their companions must keep within its confines, working obediently, wholeheartedly, in completing the great spiritual project that Jehovah has purposed.
*** w50 10/15 p. 382 "Be Fruitful, Multiply, Fill the Earth" ***The ark served as a place of protection for Noah, his family and the animals he took therein. What did it picture? God’s provision for protecting his people at the present time from the catastrophe, the battle of Armageddon. (Rev. 16:16) And what is that provision? It is God’s organization, and it will serve as the place of protection from the expression of God’s wrath against his enemies, even as did the ark for Noah and his family.
*** w51 11/15 pp. 680-681 par. 20 Baptism for Salvation and Fire Baptism ***That which corresponds with the ark is Jehovah God’s theocratic system over which he has placed the antitypical Noah, Christ Jesus. w5910/1p.583HaveYouBeenBaptizedforLife?***Then what does the ark picture? The newsystemofthings built by the Greater Noah to take the place of the old Mosaic system of things that came to its legal end after Jesus was nailed to the torture stake A.D. 33. (Col. 2:14; Heb. 1:2) This new system of things includes the new Christian system of pure worship of Jehovah, with its standard of Christian conduct and Christian ministry, and serves as a safeguard to all those serving within its confines. As Noah’s family co-operated with him in building the ark, so the members of the New World society co-operate with the Greater Noah in building up the new system of things by helping to expand the true form of worship.
*** w60 5/15 p. 298 par. 5 Baptism According to the Divine Will ***What, then, is it in our day that corresponds to the ark wherein God saved Noah? It is the arrangement for preservation that Jehovah God builds through his Son, the glorified Christ Jesus, that is, "the new system of things." Here on earth that new system of things is now represented by Jehovah’s witnesses, who have come into it and are organized as a New World society to bear witness to Jehovah’s name and purposes, his King and kingdom, and to live according to the divine will, thus showing the people of good will the way to salvation.
*** w83 2/15 p. 12 You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth—But How? ***A third requirement is that we beassociatedwithGod’schannel, his organization. God has always used an organization. For example, only those in the ark in Noah’s day survived the Flood, and only those associated with the Christian congregation in the first century had God’s favor. (Acts 4:12) Similarly, Jehovah is using only one organization today to accomplish his will. To receive everlasting life in the earthly Paradise we must identify that organization and serve God as part of it.
*** w06 5/15 p. 22 par. 8 Are You Prepared for Survival? ***Just as Noah and his God-fearing family were preserved in the ark, survival of individuals today depends on their faith and their loyal association with the earthly part of Jehovah’s universal organization.
*** w50 6/1 p. 176 Letter ***The flood was a real physical catastrophe to the old ungodly world. The Battle of Armageddon will be likewise a physical catastrophe to this present evil world, and not something just spiritual. The ark of salvation that we enter is not a literal ark but is God’s organization;
*** w50 10/15 p. 382 "Be Fruitful, Multiply, Fill the Earth" ***The ark served as a place of protection for Noah, his family and the animals he took therein. What did it picture? It is God’s organization, and it will serve as the place of protection from the expression of God’s wrath against his enemies, even as did the ark for Noah and his family.
*** es07 p. 111 November ***Just as Noah and his God-fearing family were preserved in the ark, survival of individuals today depends on their faith and their loyal association with the earthly part of Jehovah’s universal organization. w5/15/06 6, 8

Just like in Noah's day, the main job on the WT antitypical ark is shoveling poop. I think it is up to their neck, too.

All that guff about "What is its modern-day counterpart?" always irritated me. The question never comes after a discussion about whether anything was meant to foreshadow something in our times or not... they just leap straight in with "WHAT does it foreshadow?"

Here goes 2034! They haven't even touched 2012 or 2014. And they are already starting on the groundwork for 2034--the 120th year after 1914. What they won't tell you is that the clock should have been running starting in 1874, which should have put Armageddon in 1994. They haven't even developed this line of bulls***, and it's already out of date!

The ark typology was also the "biblical basis" for Rutherford's teaching from 1938 onward that members of the "great crowd" should wait until after Armageddon to marry and have children.
BTW, the "Danel" mentioned in Ezekiel (alongside Noah and Job) should not be confused with the "Daniel" of the OT. This figure seems to be related to the Job-like "Danel" from Canaanite myth, who lost his son to the henchmen of the goddess Anat.
