I just watched The Fountain the other day, and I wanted to recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it and likes seeing different/unusual films. I thought it made a very nice point about wanting to live forever and the narcisism this can imbue in people. The movie is very dense with many paralells and metaphors, spread over three time spaces: Past, Present, and Future. It's beautifully made and has good acting by Hugh Jackman (the guy in The Prestige) and Rachel Weisz. The director is the same guy who did Pi, and Requem For a Dream - so it's one of those "thinking man's" movies. Anyway, it's realy good - hope you can see it.

Is it on DVD? Sounds very intriguing.

Makes me think of a character in one of Neil Gaiman's Sandman series called "Men Of Good Fortune." In this episode, Death gives Hob Gadling a reprieve so he can not die.

It makes you think about the consequences of never having to let go of life - not as bright an idea as one might imagine, after all, at least not in the real world.

Yea, it just came out on DVD. It sounds similar to the movie you're describing.

This was my review of the movie after seeing it in the theater in March.

"Here is a movie that was, for me, engrossing. I was taken under the spell of the story and its layerd unfolding. Hugh Jackman has become a true movie star in this film.

Nothing is more frustrating than to read reviews of a film that totally misrepresent it. They speak of this as a time travel film. Such idiocy is hard to comprehend. Where do they get that? It's one long allegory.

I won't spoil it. It isn't about time travel, we'll leave it at that. I would highly reccomend it to all."

Yes, it's on DVD now. Sit down and relax as you get caught up in the humanity of it all.
