I read it over the weekend. I couldn't put it down. This is an amazing couragous woman. I highly recommend it. I cried through so much of it. What an eye opener!

What are the main points or the essence of this book it would be interesting to know in case it is the type of story that I like in which case as you highly reccomend it I will get it. It sounds like some sort of religious moslem story.
This is on my to read list. It's an autobiography about a woman from Somalia who leaves Islam.
It is the story of her life. She was born in Somalia, a Muslim. She was the victim of female mutilation (circumcision and sewn up...no anesthesia with a knife) at the age of 5. She was a true believer and as a young adult immersed herself in the religion. She has led an amazing life...escaping from an arrange marriage to a cousin... became a member of the Dutch Parliament. She wrote the script for movie exposing the treatment of women in Islam for Theo Van Gough....who was murdered for producing the film. She has spent a good deal of her life in hiding since then because a fatwah has been issued against her for telling the truth.
Google her... you'll find lots of info.
