    It's the nature of the beast. I remember after the "Jim Jones" tragedy in 1978, when almost 1000 people commited suicide. Even young children were among the dead. There was no sympathy, rememberance of this sad event, nor any offering of prayers for the families of the victims. Instead an elder at our hall said, "Isn't it wonderful friends that we have the TRUE religion. We dont have to worry about being led by a mad man like these people were."

    "Just a sign of the last days!"

    Was pretty much the canned answer to all tragic events

    JWs, as a group, are devoid of true human emotion when it comes to anyone outside of their close family/friends circle.

    The "us" vs "them" mentality that JWs are inculcated with does lead to stunting of natural emotions.
