    G'day youse blokes and sheilas,

owyergoin with your strine words. Orright mate?

Today we want to look at that essential verb 'do' and how it's coupled with particularly Australian terms to form a part of the strine dictionary.

    1. do a flit..........run away
    2. do a Melba.........to continually return from retirement
    3. do me a favour!....indicate you want another person
    to desist from his/her comments

    4. do the dirty.......to do the wrong thing by someone
    5. do your block......to lose your temper
    6. do your dash.......to reach one's limit
    7. do your lolly/do your nana......have a tantrum
    8. doesn't know if he's Arthur or Martha...someone
    who's stupid or confused

    9. doesn't miss a trick...a very alert person
    10. done like a dinner.....thoroughly defeated

Hope this helps so that you may have a lively conversation at the next BBQ. Details from [email protected]
BTW it's on Sunday October 21st.

    Hope to see you there.

    Cheers,
    Ozzie

    Prisca,

Ya know how them yanks like to economise on things 'cos they're so efficient?

Well, they economised with words by leaving letters out. So, u don't need a "u" in humour/humor do you? So, they left it out. Neat, eh!

It's a bit like the Jews leaving the vowel sounds out of words. You remember all that stuf about YHWH.

Similarly them Yanks leave out some vowels. Well, they always knew they could improve the English language and, after all, they're not convicts like us!

    Cheers,
    Ozzie

Are we gonna get more pics of Prisca from this BBQ? Since it's getting on for Summer down there, she should be wearing less clothes than last time.

    G'day expat,

We won't be having a dress code.
We don't have 'qualified' attendants to tell the mums to yake their alert toddlers out to the restroom.
We don't have a start time.
We don't have to be there 20 minutes beforehand.
We don't have to wear a suit and tie.
We don't start with a loyalty song.

We do not notice (much!) what each other is wearing.
    We come 'as we are'.
We come 'cos we want to.
    We come for a laugh.
We come to share the tears.
We come 'cos we think there may be someone to encourage.

And lastly, maybe there will be a leather clad poster there!

    Cheers,
    Ozzie
