Documentary Videos on Cults?

Recently, the History Channel has had a couple of fairly decent/informational programs on cults and how they operate (one was a general overview and the other was on Jonestown). I am wondering if there are any other wothwhile videos on/about cults, especially Bible based cults available anywhere that DO NOT come from the standpoint of trying to promote an alternative or more mainstream form of Christianity. It would be really nice to see a documentary on how bible based cults work and how they 'cherry-pick' scripture to get members to surrender their free-will to do anything 'those taking the lead' tell them to do. Such films would be a good mix of psychology, religion, sociology and history to demonstrate that some of the biggest problems with fringe religions is not necessarily that they dare to be different or have different interpretations of the Bible, but that they often do so in behaviorly destructive and abusive manners (and are in some cases intellectually dishonest with treatment of scripture). Perhaps kind of like taking the information found in Steve Hassan's books and making it accessable through video form. Do such videos exist?

    Hi Hoping4Change,

The Discovery did a pretty good documentary a while ago called Doomsday Cults. If you can find a link to it, it's well worth watching.

    Project MKULTRA

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

(Redirected from MKULTRA) Jump to: navigation, search “MKULTRA” redirects here. For other uses, see MKULTRA (disambiguation). Declassified MKULTRA documents

Project MKULTRA (also known as MK-ULTRA) was the code name for a CIAmind-control research program that began in the 1950s. [1] [2] There is much published evidence that the project involved not only the use of drugs to manipulate persons, but also the use of electronic signals to alter brain functioning. [3]

It was first brought to wide public attention by the U.S. Congress (in the form of the Church Committee) and a presidential commission (known as the Rockefeller Commission) (see Revelation below) and also to the U.S. Senate.

On the Senate floor in 1977, Senator Ted Kennedy said:

The Deputy Director of the CIA revealed that over thirty universities and institutions were involved in an 'extensive testing and experimentation' program which included covert drug tests on unwitting citizens 'at all social levels, high and low, native Americans and foreign.' Several of these tests involved the administration of LSD to 'unwitting subjects in social situations.' At least one death, that of Dr. Olson, resulted from these activities. The Agency itself acknowledged that these tests made little scientific sense. The agents doing the monitoring were not qualified scientific observers. [4]
