    I get this daily e Mail from a baptist preacher friend of mine. I have played in a southern rock band with him in the past. He has his own ministry and part of it is e mailing daily bible inspirationals to all of the people he know. It looks like the Jehobers arent the only ones shaking in their boots.

    We Are Living In The Time Of The End!

    God's Word contains countless specific "Signs of the Times" which have come to pass in our generation, proving that we are now living in the Time of the End!

    These signs include: A dramatic upsurge in "famines, pestilences & earthquakes in divers places" (Mat.24:7), "the Gospel being preached in all the World for a witness to all nations" (Mat.24:14), a drastic increase in international travel, with "many running to & fro, wandering from sea to sea, as knowledge is greatly increased." (Dan.12:4; Amos 8:11,12)--A great "falling away" (2Thes.2:3) from the Lord as "evil men & seducers grow worse & worse, deceiving many". (2Tim.3:13)--"The love of many growing cold" (Mat.24:12), resulting in "distress of nations upon the Earth & men's hearts failing them for fear!" (Luk.21:25,26)--Signs which are all obviously being fulfilled today more than ever before!

    "When ye shall see all these things," Jesus said, "know that the End is near!" He wasn't talking to His disciples 2,000 years ago who didn't see all these things being fulfilled, but He was talking to us! "This generation"--our generation--"shall not pass away till all these things are fulfilled!" (Mat.24:33,34) Are you ready?

    God of the universe, my Savior always,
    Wash me and cleanse me with Your Spirit today.
    I yearn for Your voice, for Your words divine.
    No one compares to You, Jesus—You're mine!
    Renew me with strength from Your Spirit of peace;
    I long for Your touch, that my aches will surcease.
    Great God of the universe, love of my soul,
    You give me so much and You make me whole.
    As I bask in Your sunshine, enjoy the shade of Your trees,
    I hear Your sweet whispers, as soft as the breeze.
    I feel Your dear love and Your warm embrace;
    I praise and adore You; I lift up my face
    And sing to You praises in sweet soft refrain.
    My heart comes to worship Your lovely name.

    Sounds like they are using the generation teaching that the JWs just threw away. Maybe this is why they abandoned it. It was becoming too mainstream and just doesn't make them stand out enough anymore. It would be upsetting to them not to have special interpretations that prove their inspiration.

    And it sounds like love poetry about God.

    I haven't been able to adjust to any particular set of beliefs since leaving the JWs. Just reading this freaks me out. I just can not go back there again.

    There are many fundamentalist sects who are convinced we are living in the "end times." Since each Baptist church is autonomous it should not surprise us that some promulgate this view. The main difference between these groups and JWs is that they are still looking forward to the visible return of Christ ("coming in the clouds") whereas the Watchtower teaches that Christ came invisibly in 1914.

    No, the signs have not yet appeared and nobody knows when they will appear whether tomorrow or after several centuries. A study in history shows that the 20th century for all its problems was one of the best enjoyed by mankind. Prior to that century there have been more destructive wars (given the small population sizes of those earlier times), famines and earthquakes.
