Welcome, seatrout. Don't worry about being a hanger-on. If so, I would be too. I'm a non-JW as well, but the Witnesses affect my life all the same.

I think the board has given some excellent advice. Because of your background, you might be slow in picking up the social signals. This girl is done with you. Consider her a "practice run" to the wonderful wide world of dating. You'll never be the boldest man out there, but I bet you could be a charming date companion. Give another nice girl a try.

I am simply overwhelmed by so many people all over the world responding to me.

I never expected this to happen!

Thankyou all so much for your time and advice. I am truly choked.

Welcome Seatrout! I am truly sorry for your difficulty with this Witness girl. I have always said that Witnesses are soft like bread. Many never experience life on the outside; and as a Witness, you are encouraged to ditch all 'worldly' associations and only associate with those on the inside. This has a terrible detrimental effect on the mind; and you become suspicious and wary of anybody on the outside.

This girl obviously had a taste for it but through no fault of your own could not hack life on the outside. I like to consider it like those old cons on the Shawshank Redemption. I don't know if you have seen that but an old guy Brooks finally gets let out after many years on the inside, only to find he is unable to adapt, unable to face the realities of life on the outside. This is similar to Witnesses, and many former witnesses and faders face the same difficulties.

Some day she may follow the white rabbit but for now she is not ready; don't wait around with your thumb up your ass, move on - it ain't worth the strife.
