When you look at the difference between Russell and the WT today, how would they be able to spot "true Christianity"?

    My 2 cents

Firstly , it is of concern that the WTS has , for decades , tried to prevent people from claiming anointed status and partaking of the emblems because of a doctrinal position (now voided) that the whole number had been collected together and implied , sometimes not too subtely , that those who felt that they were anointed were immature or mentally unstable. I know several people who have thought that they were anointed but due to the strong position taken by the WTS , haven't gone through with the process. How many others have had such feelings without expressing them to others?

The WTS may be in danger of putting themselves in the position of the Pharisees in Mt 23:13 : "It is bad for you, teachers of the Law and proud religious law-keepers, you who pretend to be someone you are not! You keep men from going into the holy nation of heaven. You are not going in yourselves, and you do not allow those to go in who are about to go in."

Secondly , the WTS doctrine states that True Christians are those associated with the WTS & who observe the whole pattern of healthful words = WTS doctrinal position at any one time. Adherents of similar but non affiiliated current religions (eg 7th Day adventists , Unitarians , Quakers , JWs in Bulgaria , Bible Students etc) are part of Babylon the Great & worthy of destruction. Yet many of these religions have far more in common with JWs than the Bible Students of Russells or even Rutherfords day , and certainly far more than many of the religions which the WTS claims were part of the Faithful & Discreet slave going back hundreds of years.

"We understand that this heavenly calling continued down through the centuries, though during the so-called Dark Ages, there may have been times when the number of anointed ones were very few." What a misleading glossing over and superficial statement to evade the issue that millions of genuine Christians existed through the ages. Why were there only very few through the dark ages? What about all the time from the dark ages to the 20th century? What about the Byzantine world where there were no dark ages?
