Does the Watchtower allow Red Blood Cell transfers with organ transplants?

Because the "circuit" is broken momentarily, the procedure is not considered to be in harmony with the WTS's decrees on appropriate blood use.

Page 6 of the November 2006 Our Kingdom Ministry states "Some blood is withdrawn, mixed with medicine, and returned to the patient. The length of time one's blood is outside the body may vary."

Most JWs have not thought about the implications of allowing this as it contradicts earlier views that blood leaving the body had to remain connected somehow.

The Our Kingdom Ministry indicates autologous platelet gel is also permitted. As stated by another poster this is where one's own blood is "withdrawn and concentrated into a solution rich in platelets and white cells. This solution is applied on surgical sites or wounds" to seal wounds or reduce bleeding. Also hemodilution is also being allowed where bags of one's own stored blood is broken from the circuit but kept nearby during the procedure.

Scan available at: http://www.aggelia.be/km_nov2006.pdf Based on the OKM, my thoughts are the circuit can be broken as long as a procedure is ongoing and thus allowed. So the kids can have transfusions but not have transfusions ...

The key operative word is "reinfusion", never "transfusion". Reinfusions are okay . . . transfusions are bad.

Don't forget post-operative reinfusions are okay too.
