would like to know if anyone has found differences in comparing the 2 books besides the article of Older Men that Ray Franz brought out.

Don't know of any personally, but I will keep a keen eye on this thread. Blondie will probably know.

I am somewhat interested in the question too. The Insight book was published after I left, so I don't know it well. What I remember is when I shared in translating the Aid book into French (between 1982 and 1985, that is, just after Ray's exit), we did not translate from the original English edition but from an emendated text provided by the HQ. Those were proof sheets of the English Aid book with many paragraphs (sometimes entire pages) suppressed, and some sentences rewritten. Can't remember more clearly though. I suppose this was the basis for the future Insight book, but additional material was probably inserted as the latter is bigger.

I have not made a section by section comparison. I know of one case regarding the age of Eve when Seth was born (the same as Adam's which implies little time passed between Adam's and then Eve's creation).

I would think that any doctrinal "clarifications" that occurred between the publication of Aid book and the Insight volumes could be a place to start.

"Aid" book claimed Adam and Eve were created in the same year:
Adam at age 130 had a son, Seth --Aid to Bible Understanding, p.333Eve at age 130 had a son, Seth -- Aid to Bible Understanding, p.538

    *** it-1 p. 389 Calendar ***

Thus, Adam was "a hundred and thirty years" of age when he became father to Seth.—Ge 5:3.

There is no mention of Eve's age at the birth of Seth in the Insight book or in any WT publication published from 1988 onward.

The WTS also mentions Eve being 130 here:

    *** w65 3/15 p. 171 par. 32 Who Will Be Resurrected—Why? ***

By being permitted to live longer and by not losing her reproductive powers at a hundred and thirty years of age, Eve could properly attribute to God her bearing of Seth, especially in the light of God’s words of sentence upon her.—Gen. 3:16.

Actually, the Insight books contain outdated doctrinal statements per the WTS.

    *** it-1 p. 616 Destruction ***

This is also illustrated by what happened to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and their inhabitants. Jude indicated that these cities were everlastingly destroyed. (Jude 7; compare 2Pe 2:6.) However, Jesus’ words recorded in Matthew 10:15 show that at least some of the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah will receive a resurrection.—See JUDGMENT DAY.

    *** it-1 p. 985 Gomorrah ***

Though the cities underwent "the judicial punishment of everlasting fire" (Jude 7), Jesus indicated that people of Sodom and Gomorrah would experience a resurrection to stand for judgment.

The Insight book was published in 1988 yet notice this Question from Readers in 6/1/88:

    *** w88 6/1 p. 31 Questions From Readers ***

However, in view of Jude 5 and 6, likely most people would take verse 7 to mean a judicial punishment of individuals. (Similarly, Matthew 11:20-24 would be understood as criticizing people, not stones or buildings.) In this light, Jude 7 would mean that the wicked people of Sodom/Gomorrah were judged and destroyed everlastingly.

Yeh One sister got DF She divorced and remarried. Based on information in the Aid book Her divorce was not acceptable. She had caught her ex screwing the dog. According to the Aid book it was not grounds for divorce since according to the truth of the day you could not become one flesh with an animal. Dropped in the insight books after they learned what pornea meant That light just gets brighter and brighter

The AID book is by far the better and more balanced reference, and the WTS knows it. They produced the Insight book because of the Ray Franz debacle, yet even the Insight book has a wealth of material found in the AID book. Besides that, those books are expensive and producing a "new" version of what was basically the AID book, but with all the reasonable stuff revised with unreasonable stuff made a bundle of money for the WTS at assemblies when it was released.

I know about the Ray Franz thing but could anyone tell me what you're talking about with reference to him and the AID BOOK?

Did he write a scandalous article in it or something??

The scandalous thing is that he wrote most of it.

Aid book under "Adam" said he probably wrote scripture.. Same Aid book under " Writing" said Adam probably didn't write scripture. Don't know how the Insight book handled the issue .
