    Ever heard that song?

"Lord, they were dancing down at the Kigdom Hall"
"Lord, they were swinging down at the Kigdom Hall"

Hmmn... I guess he never visited our kingdom hall. There they just mumbled out of tune and kind of 'droned' until the songs finished.

Not sure about the 'swinging' though!

    Oh, they were swingin'
    Down at Kingdom Hall
    Oh, bells were ringin'
    Down at the Kingdom Hall
    A choir was singin'
    Down at the Kingdom Hall

Maybe the KHs are different in Ireland...is that where he is from?

Nah, I checked...it's Ireland. His bio says that his mother was "briefly" a witness...he probably was just a young lad when he went to the KH.

Oh, that's interesting. I remember one of Van's songs with the lines:

"got Watchtowers and Awakes for free
down at the laundromat for you and me
but you can't take me down that way
    as I'm not sinking"

I just can't seem to remember the title of that song, possibly it's "A rose in Spanish Harlem". Funny to hear that he actually has a little bit of a JW background.

edited: just dug out the record - the song's called "Contemplation Rose", and I actually got those lyrics right.

Well.......ok.......I confess - I *really* like his music, at least several of his albums.

"Into the Mystic" is great. "Domino" does true justice when the car radio is put almost to the limit.

I was to chicken to admit my affection for him until others spoke up first. However, my son (music degree in college) calls him "mumble-mouth" - I ignore his criticism, like a good mom.
