Terms that JW's don't use

Often I hear people say, "Have you accepted Christ"?

    or

Have you made him your personal savior?

    or

Have you developped a personal relationship with Jesus?

As a JW, if someone would have asked me these questions, my answer would have been.....

Have you accepted Christ? I would have said he IS the son of God. What do I have to accept there? It's a fact.

Have you made him your personal savior? I would have said, he gave his life for us, I don't have to make him my savior, he did that for us.

Have you developped a personal relationship with Jesus? I would have answered, I pray or talk to Jehovah only but I follow Jesus's foot steps..

Basically my question is, "how would JW's answer the above questions" ?

I'm not a JW, but when I watch a JWs reaction to anything Jesus related, I get the impression there is a deep jealousy, resentment, even hate. Like maybe Jesus gets more people following him than Jehovah, so they have to VINDICATE their god's name, in a competitive way. Do everything they can to downgrade him like boycott his celebrations, trivialize his importance, favour other people's words over Jesus' from the bible.

so in answer to your question..... I agree that they stay away from terms related to Jesus.

It does show that many religious groups have their own vocabulary that separates them from each other. It is hard to change the vocabulary of the group you used to be with...doing the WT review makes it harder.

Think of some terms that are unique to Catholics, Baptists, Pentacostals, Mormons.... It is possible to peg the group they belong to just by their vocabulary.

I thought you were thinking about something like this:

"I'm sorry, I made a mistake; what can I do to fix it."

They don't use the term "grace". They use the term Undeserved Kindness™ instead, which conveys a completely different meaning to "grace".

    I never heard jws say:

    Alter Call

    Slain in the spirit

Drunk in the spirit ( I have them say 'drunk with the spirit')

    Jesus loves you

    Are you saved?

    Immaculate conception

    Communion

    Pray until something happens

What I really wanted to say, but I'd be taken into the back room if I did...

Where you aware that Papal Bulls spawned Bulletin Boards? That's why JWs say Information Board to distance ourselves from roamin' cattle.

Where you aware that some years ago we referred to our field service arrangements as the Rendezvous? Because of RVs link to immoral assignations, it was soon changed back to the theocratic, non-spicy term. Many years ago it was called, I believe, Contact Point. Use RV today and you'll get lotsa' stares.

JW's whom I know have no problem with euphemisms for the "F" word. If it starts with "F", I know what they're really trying to say.

Jehovah, by the way, is NOT jealous of Jesus. Randy said so.

Cheers, Good Luck, Golly, GeeWhiz, God Bless You [I can't spell Gesundheit]. etc.

They never say they are having a party. It's a get-together.
