No, the White House or any political group would not be wise to ignore any group that has members that vote. It is good to remember that while the original settlers in the US may have been "Christian," many Jews also moved here besides the Native Americans that were here first and the Asian groups that came here, Chinese and Japanese for starters.

This is a country that was founded by those seeking freedom of religion, not just the freedom to practice Christianity in its many forms.

Yeah, but look at the founding fathers (you know, those old dead white guys.) How many were muslims, or hindu's, or whatever. Like I said, this country was "founded" on Judeo / Christian beliefs. The HUGE deal was forming a government that did not require you to worship a certain God. You were free to choose.

Remember that these people left countries that claimed to be Christian and were preventing other Christians from worshiping in the way they saw fit.

So where were the consistent Judeo/Christian values in that situation?

Huh? The founders did indeed leave countries that would not let them worship as they saw fit. This was one of the MAIN reasons they left. So of course when it came time to set up their own system of government, these same men would make SURE that you were free to chose your God. And as for where the Judeo/Christian values came from? Well, I would imagine from Judeo/Christian accesters.

I should have known that Blondie would have the answer.

I assumed it was this: (as another poster said)

I think because the guy who lives there is a Christian he would probably do Christmas.

And.............until fairly recently, this country was predominantly Christian. It probably still is, but there are so many more that have gained prominence and recognition in recent years.

It is a home, and it is the home of Christians. They have a right to say prayers in their home, to worship God in their home and to decorate it however they wish. If someone started making a stink about that, I'd probably go off.

I wonder why Christmas decorations only are strung out all over in the White House.

The White House is the private residence of the President. He can decorate his house any way he wants.

If a Jew were elected president, I suspect the White House would be decorated for Hanukkah.

If a Muslem were elected president, I suspect the White House would be decorated for Ramadan.

"Like I said, this country was "founded" on Judeo / Christian beliefs. "

No, not really. Maybe in spite of Judeo/Christian beliefs was America birthed. Those great (maybe even sacred) documents that form the basis for democracy, the US Constitution and Bill of Rights, have very little God in them, and no Christ.

This country owes it's idealogical "foundation" to the principles of Enlightenment, and the Age of Reason. We are due a renaissance.
