PSPad is an excellent free text editor, I use it all the time.

I like the Win Amp Media Player. I have an older version that I use mostly. The newer version can burn CD's I believe. But for just a player, I like it the best. Andy and I have been using the Win Amp media player since we both got on line. Well, for me it was the first one I used when I started playing wavs and then mp3's. We still like it that much.

Picassa (I LOVE it...great for photos and all images)
    Irfanview (also great for photos)
    AdAware (protection)
    Spybot (protection)
    Avast (virus protection)
Firefox (browser, would NOT use IE, way too vulnerable)
OpenOffice (instead of MS suite, works great)

Also, go to tucows.com and look for Freeware as the license type, you'll find all kinds of goodies!

    Have fun!

I'll spend some time today to go through some of these.

One of the "Freebies" that I must say I use the most is Skype. Until the end of the year they have free calling to anywhere (landlines and mobiles) in Canada and the US using your mic and speakers or a headset. Can't beat the price!

Also, I started looking around at the addons for Firefox and WOW! Some of them are awesome! But unfortunately JWD isn't Firefox friendly. What's this "Memory leak" that a couple of you mentioned?

    Kwin
