The Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper had this to say:

Almost 1,000 family members and friends of deceased singer Gerald Levert and his family attended a private ceremony at the Civic in Cleveland Heights Thursday.

Among the celebrities attending on the cloudy, rainy day were singer Bobby Brown, comedian Mo'Nique and president of Universal Motown Records Sylvia Rhone.

The noon service was standing-room-only. An ambulance was called when several mourners overcome by heat and grief passed out during the jam-packed service. A member of the Jehovah's Witnesses congregation to which Levert's mother belongs gave the eulogy and cited Revelations 21: 3: "And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God."

Levert's father, Eddie Levert, said the blessing before the meal.

"I loved my son, and he loved me," the elder Levert said at a reception in the basement of the Civic. "Gerald loved God. He knew the importance of that. At a time like this we must all count our blessings, whether you are young or old, black, white, rich or poor. May God make us truly thankful."

Someone, please tell me that this great vocalist and those in attendance didn't get that canned JW infomercial.

I wouldn't doubt it. Dubs can't resist giving a "witness." Especially with celebrities in the audience.
