Just found this article about Brooklyn, http://www.news.com.au/travel/story/0,23483,20761953-27977,00.html
It mentions :
Best religious presence: The first thing I notice as we leave the bridge is a large, squat building with the word Watchtower painted on its side. It looks like a 1950s motel but is actually the headquarters of the Jehovah's Witnesses. This religious group, founded by Charles Taze Russell in 1872, moved into the area after World War II and is a major presence in Brooklyn Heights, occupying about 30 immaculately maintained buildings.
30 buildings! They own half the area!
