Many things are common to all mankind and spring from the same collective unconscious they are not necessarily pagan or Christian eg altars were built by both pagans and Judeo-Christians.

That's right, they certainly are ALL pagan! In agreeance with what's already been said, most of what exists in our everyday dealings are pagan. We can't get around it.

So.. if weddings, and all their customs are ok for Witnesses, then why in the heck are the Holidays off limits? Should not the same principle apply??

Exactly!! There is simply NO reason for holidays to be off limits.

If you're going to live in this world, then be in the world without condemning those who take part in such celebrations as being in anyone's disfavor!! The WT is all bull****!

    oooo.la la..It's all so romantic!!!

Why the bride stands on the left During the marriage ceremony, the bride stands on the left and the groom on the right. The origin of this goes back to the days when a groom would capture his bride by kidnapping her. If the groom had to fight off other men who also wanted her as their bride, he would hold his bride-to-be with his left hand allowing his right hand to be free to use his sword.

Interesting material, but the real point is: Unless and until this appears in the WT magazine as a study article, it's meaningless. Dubs aren't even supposed to waste time reading outside research, much less act on it. The average dub scorns all things "pagan" but in reality doesn't give a hoot about what's pagan unless the WT says it's pagan. In other words, it matters not whether an activity has pagan roots; it only matters what the WT says about it.

The jws don't care if they do do some things that are pagan - if you point it out to them, wedding rings for example - they just say its ok because it all a quiestion of balance!

I had to laugh though looking at the old english rhyme, it says marry in may and you'll rue the day, and marry on a saturday and you won't be lucky- i'm doubly doomed then!lol

I think it's referred to as "straining out the gnat, while swallowing the camel."
