Oops, hit return to soon. I was waiting outside the bookstudy a week ago and heard this comment. If a person gets into an accident and someone is hurt it is up to the brothers to investigate to see if the driver that caused the accident (if they are a witness) is blood guilty. They finished this comment by stating that the driver could have been in need of maintenance and hadn't done it yet, brakes not working well etc. I was just flabbergasted to hear someone think the elders (brothers) had any right to investigate any accident. Talk about you mind and body belonging to an organization well this sister's obviously did. I hadn't heard anything that stupid in awhile, but then again I don't attend meetings.
R u blood guilty?

There was an article in a recent magazine-not sure which one. It actually said that the brothers would do their own investigation into any auto accident that caused a fatality. And it didn't matter what the law decided-their investigation trumped the law of the land. So much for living in a democracy and obeying the higher authorities. They mentioned speeding or even just being tired while driving. I think this has something to do with the law suit that was filed against them when someone from Bethel was in an accident and the society got sued. They made it sound like all driving, but I think they are most worried about driving in service. People can say that that the society sent them in service and try to sue because they have deep pockets. They are actually talking about disfellowshipping if you make a mistake while driving and cause the death of another. Talk about being totally bummed out. How bad would you feel if someone died in an accident you were involved in and then you were disfellowshipped! But this way they can put the blame on you and protect themselves.

Well, why not? We all know how critical it is for the shepherds to protect themselves from the sheep.

That seems to be the case it is a legally based manouvre to protect the org financially by getting rid of a JW that caused an accident in service and could present them with problems. If he is no longer one then the society has no liabilities and obligations. The point is that this relgion is driven primarily by financial interests and not spiritual ones.

I wonder what the point of the investigation is. It's not as though they're going to stone the person if found bloodguilty (gawd I hope not). Do they really df people for that? Never heard of that one.
I told the elders a group of people stumbled me, so technically they should have stoned them too.
