I am making this a musical garage sale thread. Anything of musical interest welcome.
Clive Gregson and Christine Collister have recently reissued 'Home and Away' a superb live set that displays both Christine's vocal and Clive's astounding guitar work in great measure. Despite hailing from Manchester , Clive is a decent bloke and has remained true to his roots. Treat yourself to the CD, a guarantee of the best in UK folk rock.
I occasionally bring Clive to Portland / Seattle / Vancouver B.C. to perform. Let me know if you want a 'heads up' as to his next tour.

Hi hillary_step, old friend, ole pal.
I actually managed to catch this - purely by accident - on BBC Radio 4 IIthink) the other day. Germaine Greer was his girl for a while, or something? Sounded like it.
Anyway, great musician. Listening to his albums round your house in the early 70's - one of my favourite memories.
take care.
Duncan.
p.s. going to the Bonzos re-union concert in November at Hammersmith.
Outlaw,

Good to hear from you again. Yes, I actually have his CD which he recently released, and saw him last year. He has a interesting slide technique, very reminiscent of John Fahey. It is amazing how much talent is out there working the boards.
Duncan,

Where have you been? No-one tells a tale quite like yourself Duncan. I still remember all those years ago when you made the mistake of questioning why the Proverbs noted 'six things that Jehovah detested', and then immediately decided that it was actually 'seven'. LOL....I still remember FW face....lol...

My God, they are still playing! I have to say that they were so creative in their comic genius that many people overlooked the fact that they were really quite extraordinary musicians. I met Viv Stanshall at Spike Milligan's home in the late 60's. It was hard to say who needed more medication. Both sat in corners glaring at each others rival insanities, both suggesting that the other needed psychiatric help....lol Bless them both.
'Eleven mustachioed daughters running in a sea of fat...'.
Have a wonderful time Duncan.

I checked out harry manx. I like his guitar sound.

Hi Step,
Yes, poor old Viv Stanshall, eh?
“…And I shall baffle you with cabbages and rhinoceroses in the kitchen
incessant quotations from "Now We Are Six"
through the mouthpiece of Lord Snooty's giant poisoned electric head.
SO THERE! ”
And Spike himself also went a couple of years ago, also.
In fact, wondering how the Bonzo’s would get through a show without VS - for many people he WAS the Bonzos - was one of the reasons I got my tickets. First time the others have played together for absolutely years, apparently. And they have got a whole pile of guest stars lined up to try and fill the void – the comedians Phil Jupitus and Paul Merton, I understand, are going to be on the bill.
I do remember that Proverbs thing with Fred (It was Prov 6:16, I just looked it up) and in fact, he used it in a talk a week or two later – really just to make a point, and send me a coded reprimand for being so flippant. Happy days.
Duncan.
Hello Duncan,
I unearthed these pieces for you. 'Hatfield and the North' from 1976, one of my favorite bands. They only made two albums as 'Hatfield' though they played in and out of 'Caravan' ( yes, that is Richard Sinclair on keyboards ) and numerous other bands for many years. I think 'Hatfield & the North' from which these two tracks were taken were among the best music laid down by the Canterbury crew since the early Bob Wyatt in 'Soft Machine'.
I will btt to make sure you get them.
Cheers - your older and wiseless friend - HS
Thanks for those, HS,
I certainly remember Hatfield and the North. Enjoyed listening to that stuff all over again. Do you remember, the less-talented but same period (and name-sprayed onto motorway bridges just like H&tN) "Sid Sideboard and the Chairs" ? - we (me, and Pete etc.) played support to them at one of their gigs - my greatest claim to fame (!)
I didn't really follow Soft Machine, but I do remember what a huge sensation they were at school. Maybe I should look them out now?
Anyway, thanks for that.
Take care.
