Commemorating the five year anniversary of the Watchtower and UN

October 8, 2001 a day that will live in infamy in the minds of those who used to identify
themselves as Jehovah's Witnesses. It has since been five years to the day that the
scandal between the Watchtower Society and the United Nations appeared in a
reputable newspaper in the United Kingdom. Much as been talked, written and
commented regarding the scandal.

Those who were affected by the association

It should never be forgotten how this scandal affected
those of the "faith"; with numerous individuals being
reproved, disfellowshiped, and disciplined by the
Society's actions.

What are your thoughts five years later?

Even though some may argue whether or not the
Watchtower was associated with the United
Nations; the fact of the matter is that they
were involved with the blasphemous
counterfeit of God's Kingdom.

Some questions to consider:

Did the Watchtower ever "confess"
to the rank and file regarding this
scandal?

Did there actions affect you personally ?

What did you think when this story first
broke out ?

I wish that more newspapers had picked up on this especially in the United States. To my memory, the Guardian was just about the only one. Of course, to outsiders, this was a non-event. Why would it be newspaper to publicize that the Watchtwer joined the UN? Only JW's know how it was pounded into our heads for years and years and years that the UN was abominable and that any religion fraterizing with it was guilty of fornicating.

Shock!!..Very few JW`s even know about it today..Any that do know and spoke up,were punished.After all,WBT$ only joined the UN NGO for a library card...... Judas got 30 pieces of silver for betraying Jesus.All the WBT$ got was a library card,for betraying "God`s Organization".....The WBT$ betrayed God`s Organization for less,than what Judas got for betraying Jesus...OUTLAW

I remember some in the kh commenting on the Guardian article at the time, and being told by the elders, who knew as much as the rest of us, to wait on the wts to provide a statement, which we did. And of course, most of us accepted the wts excuse when it came, and carried on regardless. The ones who didn't do that were disciplined, and a few left the jws.

I was in the dark about the implications of what they had done until I started researching the wts last year, and although that wasn't the reason I left, it does seem like an act of betrayal to me.
