    Sara,

Yours is such an amazing story! Thank you for sharing it. Sharing our stories is very theraputic. Yet, it's sad and painful to read about how coldhearted some people in this world are -- especially to their own families. My god!! I can't believe your father-in-law. My wife is a JW and I have a 8 month old son. I know we are on the road to future conflicts.

    Peace,

    Hi Ray,
My favorite story is Aschenputtel (Cinderella) and that just seemed like a long thing to type! I wish you all the best.

    HI Sara,

    What a story!

This was the part that jumped off the page to me:

Husband required blood and accepted. Mother-in-law had to be banned from the hospital wing, they actually set up security to keep her out!

My father, who is a witness, has actually given the medical power of attorney (0r whatever it's called) to another witness and not to one of his adult kids (my parents are divorced)because of the whole blood issue. He is afraid that we (all of us nonwitnesses) would authorize a blood transfusion if deemed necessary for him. I really don't know what we would do if that situation arose, however, he is so concerned about this that he gave that decision to a friend in the congregation.

    Anyway, Welcome to the board!

I thank everyone for such a warm welcome to the board. Work has been so hectic the past few weeks that I haven't had time to properly respond to the posts. One thing that I forgot to mention was all the times that Hubby's parents tried to interfere with his medical choices. They would call the doctors and try to get info. They tried to get their names in as people that should be called in case of emergency. It was so frustrating. I couldn't believe that they actually would think that we would allow that! In some ways I wish I would have been there when Hubby needed blood and had to make the decision, but, he chose without me their, proving that I don't make all the decisions in our family (which they believe).

I would never have chosen a different path in my life, after Mom saved Hubby's life and looking into our son's eyes, I know that this is what was meant to be. I just spend my time moving on know, learning new things all the time :) Who knew I'd ever be this patient? Certainly not my parents!

Thank you for taking the time to respond and for all your kind messages.

    Sara
