Quite a few months ago here at JWD comments were posted by a governing body member in which he mentioned that some software named SAS was "only a tool" used at Bethel.
Can anyone explain what this SAS software is, and what it is used for at Bethel?

If I remember correctly, they started implementing it in all US Bethel systems during the year 2000. Or at least that's when it was being used and still getting used to by the techies. I believe it is a German program that cost the Society a heck of a lot of money to integrate all their systems with. A also heard the opperators and programmers of the software can make excellent wages for private companies - so well in fact, that several programmers I knew at Wallkill were seriously tempted with leaving Bethel.

I thought it was SAP. SAP would have cost Bethel in the Millions of dollars, and is an ERP package for accounting, manufacturing and warehousing. It automates a lot of the ordering and planning for manufacturing, such as scheduling the materials for a run of Watchtowers.
If it is SAS, this is more of an analytical tool used for building indepth reports, and would use data from an ERP package. You can drill down, change parameters etc. For instance, it would allow a user to quickly build a report such as - how many Watchtowers were sold for the month of August to the Parramatta congregation.
