Video of Kingdom Hall building in developing lands doesn't mention Jesus

You could be forgiven for thinking that Jehovah's Witnesses acknowledge Jesus Christ as a central figure in the Society.

Last week, we had the CO's visit and he showed us the video. I forget the title, but it was about building halls in developing lands and the work that goes into them.

A number of brothers, and sisters! were interviewed.

There didn't seem to be much begging for money in the video itself, however, the 5 minute CO talk afterwards made it quite clear that "if we are moved by what we saw, we will do everything we can to support the Kingdom Hall building work, either by volunteering our time and skills or by contributing to the World Wide Work."

However, it is what the video DIDN'T say that was most interesting.

You would think that Jehovah's Witnesses would have mentioned the founder of Christianity, Jesus Christ, just once! But, it didn't happen.

In the expansion of the good news, Jesus didn't even get one honorable mention.

Disgusting. And they call themselves the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses?

I think we can say that the campaign to remove Jesus has succeeded. They can't completely erase him from their religion, but they can certainly relegate him to the heap.

Not a mention of Christian or Messianic?

  • truthseeker

    Blondie, nothing.

It was Jehovah and his wonderful organization all the way through.

It's so obvious to me now, yet no one bats an eyelid, they just absorb it.

Yes but why would they be expected to mention Jesus?

They are after all JEHOVAH'S Witnesses, not Jesus Witnesses.

The pray to Jehovah , with only a cursory mention of Jesus at the end because he is seen as the conduit through which their prayers must pass.

Salvation and the New World are attributable to Jehovah. It is His eternal purpose.

Jesus is the Archangel, at Gods right hand who will do the job of fighting Armageddon - on his father's command.

In Short ,Jesus is just the Head of all the Organization created by and solely to worship the Father. He is almost one of them Witnessing for God.

When I was a Witness, I have to admit that Jesus only figured big in our minds at the Memorial time . I think they made the religion that way so as to be different from the hated Christendom

    Good point Bluesbrother,

But Jesus is Head of the Congregation. You would never think so. The Convention program this year didn't mention him once.

Jesus founded Christianity, it is his message we are supposed to preach. There are no alternative messages. The Dubs attribute everything to Jehovah, as if Jesus had never died for us.

Witnesses are for all intents and purposes an ancient Judaic religion. Their beliefs and teachings, their social structure, their leadership hierarchy, their understanding and conception of God, and their focus on sacrifice are far more closely aligned with ancient Judaism than Christianity. There is a perilously thin veneer of Christ overlaying everything, like spray-on butter.

So have you went from being a jw to a jesus worshiper? Good luck on your quest for truth.

JB, but the point here is that the WTS claims to be following Christ (Christians) yet never mentions him. Worshipping Jesus is another issue which deserves its own thread and was also not mentioned in the WT videotape.

Well if Jeebus wasnt there laying bricks why should he get a mention? Freeloading son of a deity...
