Doesn't look like Saltram exports, or if they do, they're none too forthcoming about it!

Ozzie, how about a brief recap of some previous recommendations of yours (of wines available Stateside), for the benefit of our American friends?

    Stephanus,

Of the "never come between an American and a good red" class.

    Steph,

you're kiddin', mate! I ain't about to go to Merry Car to see if I can buy some decent wine!

Yeah, I know what ya mean, so I'll try to recall what wines they've responded to - struth mate, that's a few thousand posts.

    Ya don't want much, eh/

Say, how's the KH going round your way?

    Cheers, ozzie

I know that wine or at least one like it, I think it's a Jacob's Creek? It's more like a Rose, pink in colour, and it's really quite nice! I am not a big white wine drinker but this one really is fine.

It is Australian and it's not really white, it's pink. But they call it White Shiraz and since I like Australian Shiraz so much, I thought it was worth a try.

Put it this way: if you like a sparkling shiraz, you might like a white shiraz.

Me, I like "the real thing" so i stick to shiraz, pure and simple.

Don't forget folks, if you're particularly looking for something 'down under,' New Zealand is one of the leading producers of the world's finest Sauvignon Blancs - right next to Loire and Bordeaux. (I think ozzie needs to branch out beyond the Shiraz's a little... *nudge nudge wink wink* ) I have nothing against Shiraz - in fact, there are some that compete well with a few of my favorite pinot noirs depending on the cut of meat.(and most shiraz's typically cost half as much as the pinots!)

We should have Ozzie try wines from down under and recommend the ones that export....and I'll give some verdicts on a few from the upper equator(it is my other hobby btw, aside from vball ).

Don't say that about the best of the best in champagnes!

Hint: only the Noble Grape should be used....and it's typically known for its deep red hue.

But to be honest, I can't say I've had a sparkling shiraz yet. I can't imagine it would be 100% shiraz though, would it? Maybe some Semillon blended in??? I don't see the 'down unders' using blancs. But who knows?

They've rebuilt it. I've recently perfected my fried chicken recipe, and everytime someone drives me past the Bulli Kingdom Hall, I say" That'd make a GREAT fried chicken stand"!

The only people I've ever known to refer to NZ as "Downunder" are either NZers, or people with friends from NZ. Which one are you?

Oh no!!!! As far as I've seen they compare:

    1. French wines are too thin and almost taste of dust.

    2. Shiraz half the price? Exactly. The French is over-priced and overrated - like their overprotected farmers!

Still, I was hoping the French won the World Cup!!! And I have a French watch.

Well, thank you everyone. I feel better about opening that bottle now. It's a "Little Penguin". I have a bottle of "Jacob's Creek" shiraz, too. Plain shiraz though. I prefer red wine, but white shiraz sounded interesting. I've never seen a sparkling shiraz. Is there really one?

I'd like to see a list of recommended wines from Australia that are export also.
