well now.. thats a wee bit different than the stated mission of the watchtower on wikipedia.. keep it coming LDH

i guess they word things the way they need to in order to keep charitable status .. oh..regarding your other info in second post.. some of that info is available on the dunn and bradstreet website too.

The Watchtower is used by Jehovah's Witnesses in their public preaching. The inside cover page of each issue has the following mission statement: "THE PURPOSE OF THE WATCHTOWER is to exalt Jehovah God as Sovereign Lord of the universe. It keeps watch on world events as these fulfill Bible prophecy. It comforts all peoples with the good news that God's Kingdom will soon destroy those who oppress their fellowmen and that it will turn the earth into a paradise. It encourages faith in God's now-reigning King, Jesus Christ, whose shed blood opens the way for mankind to gain eternal life. The Watchtower, published by Jehovah's Witnesses continuously since 1879, is nonpolitical. It adheres to the Bible as its authority."

The magazine is also a major vehicle of communication from the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses to the association as a whole regarding doctrine and organizational procedures.

Now, you and I might wonder on what basis they requested this grant.

That can be answered easily enough. HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF......

      http://fdncenter.org/pnd/hurricane/foundations.jhtml;jsessionid=DMCUJO3MO4GDNTQRSI4CGXD5AAAACI2F

So let's get this straight. If the ordinary rank and file JW sends money to the organization, they should NOT specify it's for Hurricane Katrina Relief. HOWEVER if the WBTS feels like it, they can request grant monies from charitable organizations in the specific name of Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts!!!

Now what makes this astonishing.....When you receive grant monies, if you ever hope to get more grant monies in the future you must supply proof and documentation that this money was spent in the way you said it would be spent. Why is the WTBS not held to that same standard when it asks for money from it's follwers????

Why would asking the WBTS to show proof of how much money they took in for Hurricane Katrina, and how it was spent, RAISE RED FLAGS if a JW asked about this?

It may be a dumb question but does this mean that the WTS GOT 50,000 US$ from the trust or did they put 50,000US$ into this trust as NY residents?
