Amazing,
At the end of the Vietnam War, I had occassion to help several (6) refugee familes, assimilate into our culture. It was a real eye opener to me, when I drove on to Camp Pendelton,Ca., witnessing young tough Marines (who months earlier had been shooting at these people) setting up tents, tent schools for teaching english, showing concern and giving of themselves.
This made an indelible impression on me. I think I concluded then and there, even though a witness at the time, that the USA with all its faults, does truly believe in 'goodness' and takes pride in the pursuit of 'liberty and justice for all'.
