"As to your Christian family + friends, you will realize that, if and / or when you tell them of your unbelief, you will find that these so called Christians will leave you cold!!! So much for Christian love."

"I agree with Trashy... expect lots of time spent smacking yourself on the forehead, wondering how in the world you could have believed it for so long. I wish with all my might that I could have gotten out earlier than I did...I feel like the majority of my life up to my deconversion was partially wasted."

This post can be found at Ex-christian.net, on page 1 of the section entitled, 'Testimonies of former Christians'. It is post #5 in a thread entitled, 'On the rocks'. The poster's name is Truth Seeker. If you are a Jehovah's Witness thinking about joining a church, please check out this message board.

A Paduan: We continue to be divided by a common language. When I refer to 'Christians', I am including Jehovah's Witnesses ( and their 'mother' ).

Clearly, this is not the case, as you continue to post in the following manner.

If you are a Jehovah's Witness thinking about joining a church , please check out this message board .

Your written agenda, now and before, is to disway a Jehovahs Witness from joining a christian church. Your writing includes no qualification such as you have written of when queried on this, but rather, your thread topics remain a warning to Jehovahs Witnesses about 'joining a church' - namely 'a christian church'.

You do not use the language that is common to me, but alter and change - on this basis I still think that you are a Jehovahs Witness with the above agenda. The agenda is not of my concern as much as the methodology.

It depends what they mean by christians, for all we know that could be cultic religions calling themselves Christian and which behave in the manner of the JWs.

I can't imagine mainstream Christianity behaving like that.

Greendawn, of course you cannot imagine it. However this is (as the posters quoted above demonstrate) the experience of many when leaving the Christian subculture.

a very interesting discussion board. I didn't get very involved there, told my story, but I was really shocked to find how many people had similar experiences with their "mainstream" christian religions. It really makes me skeptical when people tell me their religion is very different from Jehovah's Witnesses. I figure many many religions are exactly the same. It doesn't seem so from the outside, when you see people doing all sorts of "sinful" things and seeming to get away with it in their Churches, but you've got to ask yourself, are these people getting away with it because they are more popular, have money or are related to someone important, ie the same reasons some JWs get away with things?

Makes you wonder what's going on out there, that's for sure.

I think its great Scout in encouraging serious research before joining another religion. The researcher is invited to make his own decision. Preventing research and critical material is very JW like. Thanks for posting, freetosee

They are not Christians they are Jehovah's Witnesses. Big difference.

I just smacked myself on the forehead and came up with this conclusion: Scout is trying to tell us that "Christians" have the same problems as J.W.'s and if that's why you want to leave..............DON'T!
