I once did a little research project for an ex-JW who wanted to prove to a family member that JWs weren't the only ones who used that name.

I had to stop after 50 churches.......100 hymns.

JWs like to think they invented to word "Jehovah."

We have a small Christian group around here called, Jehovah's Bible Students. They make a strong point to show that they are not in anyway connected to the Witnesses.

Funny....all these splinter groups from the dubs drop central teachings of the dubs, but the one thing they hang onto is the USAGE of the name Jehovah.....as if it is still a REQUIREMENT from god.

Some things never die and old habits are hard to break I guess.

Gumby..(who realises the Lutheran group in the initial post wasn't a splinter group)

Gumby, it's really doubtful that "Jehovah Lutheran Church" is a JW splinter group. :)

I think Gumby is a splinter group from an acient pagan cult of stone polishers. Their rituals involved many strange customs such as spending inordinate amounts of time polishing their sacred stones for religious ceremoies and sacrifices. They also used other symbols in their worship such as upright poles with polished stones suspended from them. When not in use, these ancient peoples used to carry their sacred stones in little pouches for safekeeping. Some think the Mason's also splintered off from this ancient cult, but there is no direct evidence to support this.
