    Hey, ExpatBrit!

Hey! This thread is nine posts long. Isn't it about time we started calling each other names?

I heard that the Saxons (Edward Godwinson & co) called William the Conqueror -- "William the Bastard"!!!

    Will that do?

    Out

And you really don't want to know what English put on their bread...

For the Brits here: what do you call these slices of rye, drowned in almost fluid lard and then deep-fried in the same oil where seconds before both your fish AND chips we're fried and that you subsequently sprinkle with voluptuous amounts of vinegar, ketchup and mustard, right before you stuff it into your faces?

    Yech!

I personally have nothing against Americans. But one thing which will generally get any Brit's back up, is when Americans claim to have won the war for us. Also the number of films which grossly exaggerate the Americans influence in the outcome of the war.
Some Americans seem to think they know everything about the war after some fleeting propoganda at high school, but they often show complete ignorance as to the facts, and certainly have very little personal experience of it.

Come on! Didn't you see U-571? Oh yes, obviously there are those weird British who claim this is a 'revisionist' movie and keep whining about some place called Bletchley Park and some guy called Turing, but who DID save your asses in the end? Right: Private Ryan! And by all means, do you remember the 'Guns of Navarone'? Remember how that British sod (major Franklin) got his leg wounded and how the American captain Keith Mallory had to do all the hard work? And...
