    Hi paddy,

Are you asking why a person would refuse blood? I'm a bit confused.

If you can clarify, what does this refusal relate to?

Yes, blood (sorry, just assumed this section was the bloodline)

There was a comment that touched on this the other day. The person that formulated the Watchtower Blood doctrine (cant remember off the top of my head but think it was Wentworth) appeared to have a compulsive disorder. It could well be that the doctrine was pushed by him due to his striving for perfection.

Christianity, including Russell understood that there is not retriction on blood. Acts 15:28 was written solely for congregations that had mixed Gentiles and Jews where stumbling was causing a problem. This can be seen from Paul writing elsewhere that there is nothing wrong with eating food sacrificed to idols provided it did not stumble others.

I had to sign medical release papers for my mother, refusing a blood transfusion on her behalf. Why? Because that's what she would have wanted due to her belief that is the right thing to do.
