I was reading a post on here recently from some young guy who was never a witness but wanted some advice about a romantic situation and what struck me was his real guilt trip about sex, porn and masturbation.

What is the reason for attaching so much guilt to sex? Is it because we attach emotion to the closness of our sexual relationships? is it because some people liken porn to infidelity? is there something deeply psychological about feeling guilty about sex?

another thing occurred to me, when I was disfellowshipped, the elders on the JC wanted loads of detail about what I had got up to with my girlfriend, this sort of made my flesh crawl thinking that they were getting all hot and sweaty about what we had done, sort of freaky!

Well as we all know "sex is a tool of the devil".

And as for wanting info, the JC always says it is to determine what type of sin has been committed, but truthfully it is so the old men can get it up without having to take their Viagra for the evening. It is their own form of erotica.

This is because Gawd is a pre-vert who likes to watch what everyone does with their naughty bits.

In fact he also likes to watch everyone on the toilet too! Your last visit to the "Royal Throne".... yup... he was watching and eating some pop corn as you did your business!

I have no guilt over sex. I think that was a mistake of belonging to the Watchtower society. I'm not a perv either. Just ask any woman here. I bring up sex subjects quite often just like I think it is healthy for any man.

In general, being concerned with matters of the flesh is sinful and/or looked down on - Christians are supposed to be spiritual. And what is more fleshyly than sex? Masturbation is wrong, sex outside of marriage is viewed as sinful, certain practices within marriage are viewed as sinful, thinking about sex - whether married or not - is not Godly. Talking about it or engaging in any actions that cause one to think about sex are to be guarded against. So much time and energy is spent avoiding or suppression these desires, it can become an obsession.

Some of the self-help gurus say that if your self-talk is "I must not do xxx" your subconscious really registers "I must xxxxx", like it ignores the NOT. It's little wonder that people have a problem controlling themselves (thoughts and/or actions) and when they do indulge, they feel guilty and start up with the labelling, like 'perv'.

Good on ya B-man. Enjoy the fruit of the vine or harvest of the wheat (barley).

Unfortunately, imperfect mankind has made sex wicked. Why does everyone think that masturbation is bad? It is from the biblical times when having children was necessary. So the waste of semen was a sin. We got enough people in the world, so let men let loose some of that semen. As for women, it is about time they figured out what their bodies. If it allows someone to get their frustrations out and not harm another soul, who cares if they masturbate.

To each their own. I am not about to throw sticks or stones in anyone's direction. Personally, I don't think people should feel guilty over sex. I think they should live responsibly and go about their business.

I have a few points to make here.

Firstly, organised religion is about social engineering. Thus, the topics covered tend to pertain to things like sex (reproduction) and marriage (the family unit).

Secondly, Christianity belongs to a category of religion called ascentionism, as opposed to descentionism. An ascentionist believes that the answers are found by ascending, or "rising above" the flesh, into the spirit world where god lives. A descentionist believes that god is IN the flesh, therefore godliness lies in the material world.

As for the elders using lurid confessions to get a stiffy, that you can bank on. It's a direct result of the sexual repression of the JW religion, and probably also tied in with what their wives won't do for them in bed. If you only got laid once in a while and only in the most "vanilla" way possible, wouldn't you want to hear what freaky stuff others have been up to? Especially if you could do so under the guise of "holiness"?

As for pornography, the whacktower is an excellent example of pornography, it's just not sexual.
