I remember having a single encounter with stinging nettles when I was a kid... but I don't remember it having an aroma. Mind you, I never noticed that catnip has an aroma either... and I have some for my cats.

I got stung by nettles numerous times but I never tried to smell them I never noticed any scent near them, though I know some people boil and eat them as vegetables or dry them and use them to make tea which is supposedly very healthy.

especially if you're trying to produce more milk apparently it is used as an herbal remedy for increasing milk supply in breastfeeding women (not that I endorse it, but I am aware of its use).

Yep, the sting is nasty, but, they taste great.
Gather the leaves with sissors & tongs, drop them in boiling, salted water and cook them like spinach. Or saute in garlic and butter.
The water & heat dissolve the tiny hollow needles and destroy the venom-like poison. They are also extremely high in Vitamin C. I look forward to them every year.
