If you all have read my posts, I told of my mom finding out about the U.N. issue and leaving the org a yr before I did. One of my brothers was DF'd over questioning the WTS about it, and myself and another brother have faded. We all pretty much feel the same way...but as my parents were in for over 50 + yrs, they've done an about change for sure. It has been about 5 yrs now that we (except one brother) have been out and little by little have been changing our viewpoints on many things. Birthdays is one of them...I guess they thought better now than NEVER!!! Wow!!! I just never expected for them to give me a birthday present!!! (I can't help but think of my entire childhood without a single birthday present from them...kind of makes me cry a little thinking about it!)

I have quite a collection of fine china, just not for use everyday...so I had been saying recently that I needed to go out and buy myself a nice set of everyday dishes....They got me just what I had been looking at!!! I was so happy to get what I really wanted!!!

Thanks for all the comments and best wishes!

    Love you all....

Hi SWalker and happy birthday (we are birthday twins!!!)

I know that overwhelming feeling. I remember last year posting a thread about my mum acknowlodging my birthday for the first time and how overwhelmed I was by it. Well I just got another e-mail from her remembering the day of my birth. No Happy Birthday messages of gifts etc. But it means a lot to me. Who knows where it may eventually lead?

Oh Swalker-----DISHES!!!! I love dishes too! Beautiful dishes! I have a thing for them. Which make and pattern did you get? What color? (Im serious. I love dishes.) I dont tell too many people my passion for dishes cause its sounds very, er, well, dumb.

But if you love dishes too you know what I mean! Dishes for Fall, Winter and Spring and Summer. Everyday and fancy! Pottery and fine china. I hand wash all my dishes and do not allow anyone else to wash them for fear of a chip.
*Oh oh do I hear crickets?*
Well thats how it usually is when I get going about dishes......(sigh)

Oh, almost forgot..... Happy Birthday Swalker!

SWalker - That's so, so, so sweet. It makes me feel like there's hope after all (and there really is). Thanks for sharing that little story.

I think I'd swoon right off the stairwell if any of my jw relatives ever did that. Lovely, just lovely! Thanks again for sharing it.

Also, I'm glad they got you something you wanted. That's too perfect!

And anewme - You made me laugh when you started talking about dishes. I've been growing a little obsession for crystal glassware, myself. A lady I worked for collected art and a lot of dishes, too. And she gave me a few things; now I'm much more appreciative of art glass and crystal than ever before. I keep thinking about buying all these lovely things . . . plates and ceramics and all kinds of artsy-kitcheny glassware. I love the functional, sculptured kitchen gadgets, too.

Enjoy your new dishes, SWalker! And happy belated birthday!

Happy birthday! It feels so good to say that. Mine's tomorrow and I just got a card in the mail from my parents-the first one in more years than I care to remember- and it left me crying like a baby. Doesn't it feel good to be free?
