I remember those Armageddon pictures from the Paradise book. I used to stare at those pictures as a kid and wonder how we would survive. Like Blondie wondered, if the ground just opened up and a JW happened to be there, what kept them from falling in?
I took a few minutes and stared at them again on this thread and felt a rush of the dread and fear I felt as a kid when staring at them. The little girl with her doll falling in. A bicycle falling in, while an inanimate object, gave the sense that someone just out for a ride would meet the same fate as bad people. A dog, someone's pet, would die, for no other reason than they were owned by a non-JW. How could parents make small chidren sit there and read/look at this and tell them that this is what waited them if they didn't obey God?

I remember well studying this book with my mom and sisters. We were all scared to death of Armageddon. Funny, ...your taught Jehovah's people will be spared....yet your STILL scared shitless. Whether your good or bad....your still scared as a kid.
Not only were the pictures spooky, what was written beside those pictures was scary too. Talk about flesh falling off, eyes being plucked out by birds as they feast on flesh. Witnesses are admonished to not let their kids watch violent movies and video games, but they can't print books to study with your kids that show the same type of negative violence, except the violence comes from god himself. Sickening... ain't it? Children will remember these pictures for years to come more than they will a violent video game.

Nope, dat's not the one Gumbers........if you've got the Paradise Lost book, take a look in the part about Moses and the Red Sea. I'm almost positive that there's a picture showing the big waves crashing down over everybody and one of them's got a crown on........and the other one I'm thinking of is showing the people at Noah's Flood all drowning with a look of terror on their faces.............

For $9 it would be worth it to buy a copy of that old Paradise book just to remind oneself and others just how monstrous the WTS is in its fear tactics with its members. This is proof.
Depicting a little girl and her doll and doggie being destroyed was innappropriate and cruel.
The concept of world annihilation is hard to conceive of as an adult let alone as a young child.
The whole Society is lacking in warmth and human love.
This is not a religion for human beings. -

Sigh! Geeze, there's never a gentleman around when you need one. OK, I looked it up and the two pictures of more baaaaaad people drowning are on pages 44 and 62.......yep, the one poor sucker with the crown on is still there...........I can't believe they printed these pictures for kids!! And they have the never to complain about the Harry Potter books scaring kids??
