If you have found any interesting websites or any useful free (or cheap) software would you like to let us know about them?

For software I downloaded and use Avast as antiviral, Kerio for firewall protection, Ad-Aware SE and Spyware Blaster as anti spyware and Limewire for p2p sharing. And Skype for pc to pc talking.

PC WORLD DESCRIPTION FOR FLASHGET 1.65

If you've ever experienced the frustration of waiting for your files to download from a slow connection, this utility can help you avoid years of costly therapy. Normally, when you download a file, a single connection is used, which does not use all of your bandwidth--especially on slow, non-responsive servers. This application can automatically split files into sections--or splits--and download each split simultaneously. Multiple connections are opened to each file, and the result is a more efficient use of the bandwidth available, regardless of your connection.

Manage your downloads by creating an unlimited number of categories for your files. You can have it search for the fastest server available for the fastest possible downloads, and its scheduling feature can dial up, download a file, hang up, and shut down the computer when you're not around.

Microsoft is a big pain on security that's why I gave up IE and use opera instead, it is also more advanced in its functionality. I can also see why many ppl turn to Linux and Mac. I don't know why microsoft dominates the Operating System market so much with their crappy software.

For backing up each of my expensive DVD films with a copy in case they get damaged, I use DVD shrienk to compress them to a size that fits on a single layer DVD and then copy them with DVD Decryptor.

Restoration 2.5.14 - file undelete utility

Restoration is an easy to use and straight forward tool to undelete files that were removed from the recycle bin or directly deleted from within Windows, and we were also able to recover photos from a Flash card that had been formatted. Upon start, you can scan for all files that may be recovered and also limit the results by entering a search term or extension. In addition, it also provides the option to wipe the found files beyond simple recovery. The program is small and standalone, it does not require installation and can also run from a Floppy disk. Restoration works with FAT and NTFS as well as digital cameras cards.
