I am listening to Sinead O'Connor and one song really struck a cord with me. I just finished 'Crisis of Conscience" and I have a lot of thoughts in my head about the Governing Body, organization, etc. This song today made me think of the organization.

    SINEAD O'CONNORTHE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES
    (Sinead O'Connor)

How could I possibly know what I want
    When I was only twenty-one?
    And there's millions of people
To offer advice and say how I should be
    But they're twisted
And they will never be any influence on me
    But you will always be
    You will always be
    If I treated you mean
    I really didn't mean to
Everyone can see what's going on
They laugh `cause they know they're untouchable
Not because what I said was wrong
    Whatever it may bring
I will live by my own policies
I will sleep with a clear conscience
    I will sleep in peace
    Maybe it sounds mean
But I really don't think so
You asked for the truth and I told you
    Through their own words
    They will be exposed
They've got a severe case of
    The emperor's new clothes
    The emperor's new clothes
    The emperor's new clothes

The older I get, the scarier the verses of this song are:

    Time-Pink Floyd

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it’s sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in the relative way, but you’re older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the english way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I’d something more to say...

    Oh yes.

Matchbox Twenties entire CD "YOURSELF OR SOMEONE LIKE YOU".

I know every single lyric to every song on that album.

'PUSH' is what speaks to my inner core the most though:

    MATCHBOX 20 - Push Lyrics

She said I don't know if I've ever been good enough I'm a little bit rusty, and I think my head is caving in And I don't know if I've ever been really loved By a hand that's touched me, well I feel like something's Gonna give And I'm a little bit angry, well This ain't over, no not here, not while I still need you Around You don't owe me, we might change Yeah we just might feel good [chorus] I wanna push you around, I will, I will I wanna push you down, I will, I will I wanna take you for granted, I wanna take you for granted I will She said I don't know why you ever would lie to me Like I'm a little untrusting when I think that the truth is Gonna hurt ya And I don't know why you couldn't just stay with me You couldn't stand to be near me When my face don't seem to want to shine Cuz it's a little bit dirty well Don't just stand there, say nice things to me I've been cheated I've been wronged, and you You don't know me, I can't change I won't do anything at all [chorus] Oh but don't bowl me over Just wait a minute well it kinda fell apart, things get so Crazy, crazy Don't rush this baby, don't rush this baby [chorus] ________
If you ever get the chance to listen to the entire album, you will need a long cry and a hot bath afterwards.

In the days when I was still a closet athiest, I always was intrigued by this on the liner of the Aqualung album.

    By Jethro Tull (Ian Anderson)

    In the beginning Man created God;
and in the image of Man
    created he him.

2 And Man gave unto God a multitude of
names, that he might be Lord of all
the earth when it was suited to Man

3 And on the seven millionth
day Man rested and did lean
heavily on his God and saw that
    it was good.

4 And Man formed Aqualung of
the dust of the ground, and a
host of others likened unto his kind.

5 And these lesser men were cast into the
void; And some were burned, and some were
    put apart from their kind.

6 And Man became the God that he had
created and with his miracles did
    rule over all the earth.

7 But as all these things
came to pass, the Spirit that did
cause man to create his God
lived on within all men: even
    within Aqualung.

8 And man saw it not.

    9 But for Christ's sake he'd
    better start looking.

"Forgiven" By Alanis MorsietteYou know how us Catholic girls can be
We make up for so much time a little too late
I never forgot it, confusing as it was
No fun with no guilt feelings
The sinners, the saviors, the loverless priests
    I'll see you next Sunday

We all had our reasons to be there
We all had a thing or two to learn
We all needed something to cling to
    So we did

I sang Alleluia in the choir
I confessed my darkest deeds to an envious man
My brothers they never went blind for what they did
But I may as well have
In the name of the Father, the Skeptic and the Son
I had one more stupid question

We all had our reasons to be there
We all had a thing or two to learn
We all needed something to cling to
    So we did

What I learned I rejected but I believe again
I will suffer the consequence of this inquisition
If I jump in this fountain, will I be forgiven
We all had our reasons to be there
We all had a thing or two to learn
We all needed something to cling to
    So we did

We all had delusions in our head
We all had our minds made up for us
We had to believe in something
    So we did

"Who Will Save Your Soul" by: Jewel

People living their lives for you on TV
They say they're better than you and you agree
He says "Hold my calls for me I must go"
Says "Come here boys, there ain't nothing for free"
Another doctor's bill, another lawyer's bill
    Another cute cheap thrill
You know you love him if you put in your will
Who will save your soul when it comes to the flower
Who will save your soul after all the lies that you told, boy
Who will save your soul if you won't save your own?
We try to hustle them, try to bustle them, try to cuss them
The cops want someone to bust down on Orleans Avenue
Another day, another dollar, another war, another tower
Went up where the homeless had their homes
So we pray to as many different God's as there are flowers
But we call religion our friend
We're so worried about saving our souls
Afraid that God will take His toll
    That we forget to begin
Who will save your soul when it comes to the flower
Who will save your soul after all the lies that you told, boy
Who will save your soul if you won't save your own?
Some are walking, some are talking, some are stalking their kill
You got social security, but that don't pay your bills
There are addictions to feed and there are mouths to pay
So you bargain with the Devil, say you're o.k. for today,
You say that you love them, take their money and run
Say it's been swell, sweetheart, but it was just one of those things
Those flings, those strings you've got to cut,
So get out on the streets, girls, and bust you butts.
Who will save you soul when it comes to the flower
Who will save you soul after all the lies that you told, boy
Who will save your soul if you won't save you own?

    Don Henley

    The Heart of the Matter

I got the call today, I didn't wanna hear
But I knew that it would come
An old true friend of ours was talkin' on the phone
    She said you found someone
And I thought of all the bad luck,
And the struggles we went through
And how I lost me and you lost you
What are these voices outside love's open door
Make us throw off our contentment
    And beg for something more?

I'm learning to live without you now
    But I miss you sometimes
The more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I knew, I'm learning again
I've been tryin' to get down to the Heart of the Matter
    But my will gets weak
And my thoughts seem to scatter
But I think it's about forgiveness
    Forgiveness
Even if, even if you don't love me anymore

    These times are so uncertain
    There's a yearning undefined
    ...People filled with rage
We all need a little tenderness
How can love survive in such a graceless age
The trust and self-assurance that can lead to happiness
They're the very things we kill, I guess
Pride and competition cannot fill these empty arms
And the work I put between us,
    Doesn't keep me warm

I'm learning to live without you now
    But I miss you, Baby
The more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I figured out, I have to learn again
I've been tryin' to get down to the Heart of the Matter
    But everything changes
And my friends seem to scatter
But I think it's about forgiveness
    Forgiveness
Even if, even if you don't love me anymore

There are people in your life who've come and gone
They let you down and hurt your pride
Better put it all behind you; life goes on
You keep carrin' that anger, it'll eat you inside

I've been tryin' to get down to the Heart of the Matter
    But my will gets weak
And my thoughts seem to scatter
But I think it's about forgiveness
    Forgiveness
Even if, even if you don't love me anymore

I've been tryin' to get down to the Heart of the Matter
Because the flesh will get weak
    And the ashes will scatter
    So I'm thinkin' about forgiveness
    Forgiveness
Even if, even if you don't love me anymore

oh so many ways for me to show you how your savior has abandoned you.

    Thank(fuck) your god.

he did this, took all you had and left you this way.

still you pray, never stray, never taste of the fruit. never thought to question why.

it's not like you killed someone.

it's not like you drove a hateful spear into his side.

praise the one who left you broken down and paralyzed.

he did it all for you.

oh so many ways for me to show you how your dogma has abandoned you.

pray to your christ, to your god.

    never taste of the fruit,

    never stray, never break,

    never choke on a lie,

even though he's the one who did this to you

    thought to question why

it's not like you killed someone.

it's not like you drove a spiteful spear into his side.

talk to jesus christ as if he knows the reasons why he

    did this all to you.

he did it all for you.

Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout The Good Old Days)

    ( The Judds )

Grandpa, tell me 'bout the good old days
Sometimes it feels like this world's gone crazy
And Grandpa, take me back to yesterday
When the line between right and wrong
    Didn't seem so hazy

Did lovers really fall in love to stay
And stand beside each other, come what may?
Was a promise really something people kept
Not just something they would say?
Did families really bow their heads to pray
Did daddies really never go away?
Oh, Grandpa, tell me 'bout the good old days

    Grandpa, everything is changing fast
We call it progress, but I just don't know
And Grandpa, let's wander back into the past
And paint me the picture of long ago

Did lovers really fall in love to stay
And stand beside each other, come what may?
Was a promise really something people kept
Not just something they would say?
Did families really bow their heads to pray
Did daddies really never go away?
Oh, Grandpa, tell me 'bout the good old days
Oh, Grandpa, tell me 'bout the good old days

I'LL KILL YOU IF YOU DON'T COME BACK

    MEAT LOAF

From the minute I turned and laid my eyes on you, I had no eyes of my own
I was blind to the world, you were too good to be true
But you were something to see, so very young and alone
And I still don't believe the way you turned on me
Now where's the girl that I knew?
I gave you somewhere to live and then somebody to love
You gave me nothing but trouble, man, I've been such a fool
You gave me nothing at all, now let me give it to you
You taught me how to be cruel, now let me try it on you
How do you abuse me, let me count the ways
How many hours in how many days
How does it amuse you, let me count the pain
How many rules breaking how many games
    Chorus: [
How do you abuse me, let me count the ways
How many hours in how many days
How does it amuse you, let me count the pain
How many rules breaking how many games
You got your ass out of gear and your soul out of whack
Go on and take all your stuff, don't even bother to pack
In every way I want you out of my life
But I'll kill you if you don't come back, I'll kill you if you don't come back
]In the pit of the night you used to pull me so close
And then you'd hold me so tight
And in the wink of an eye you used to give me it all
And with a kiss in the darkness you'd deliver the light
And in the pit of the night I hear you laughing so loud
I know you're laughing at me
Oh ain't it funny and sad the way I fell for your lies
The way I fell into love and then I begged to be free
You gave me nothing at all, now let me give it to you
You taught me how to be cruel, now let me try it on you
    chorus
Somebody bless all the girls in the sand on the beach
They're dreamin' of boys and staying just out of reach
Bless all the cheerleaders down on the track
They're glistening like diamonds with sweat on their backs
Bless all the girls in the gangs on the street
They're looking for danger and they're holding their piece
Bless all the girls staying late after school
They're playing with fire and oh they're playing it cool
And bless all the shy girls who're learning to dance
They stare in the mirror and they conjure romance
Bless all the girls who are always alone
They kneel down in prayer and they wait up by the phone
Bless all the homecoming queens of the night
They're looking for magic in gymnasium lights
And bless all the girls who know what love is about
They try not to cry and then they try to put out
And bless all the homecoming queens of the night
They're looking for magic in gymnasium lights
And bless all the girls who know what love is about
They try not to cry and then they try to put out
Somebody bless all these girls that I never have met
But damn you and curse you after all that you've done
You're the one girl I'll never forget
You're the one girl I'll never forget
Somebody bless all these girls and everything that they do
But damn me and curse me for still needing you
And I'll kill you if you don't come back
I'll kill you if you don't come back (repeats out)
