You are one person in a world of billions. Unless you kill someone famous, do some sort of terrible crime that gets national attention, or become a small percentage of people who have actually become world famous from acting, writing or singing. You are going to die with less then a few dozen people who will remember or notice. Of those ones who do know you, most will see your loss as a stumbling loss that they move on from shortly and those who knew you best will remember you and yet in time, you will become a foot note of, "wasn't it in the 1990's when "Your name here" died?" or a "... remember when "your name here" did that "choose a event?" In twenty year a generation will have aged and another one that had no memory or connection to you will come about. In 40-60 years you will be a obituary mention of your children, in which it will state that they were born too "your name here" and you will not be as important as the loss of your child will be then. In 100 years, someone will be looking up family trees and will see your name and simply note the date of your birth and death. In 150 years, someone might look at your tombstone and yell to their friends, "look how old this one is?" and in 200 years, your grave will be replaced by a new subdivision to make room for the expanding world population and in 10,000,000 years the dust you are will be burned up by the sun when it becomes a red giant and burns this planet up in a single second of time.

its funny, this used to bother me, the fact that i was sooo insignificant... then i heard a quote of emerson's that goes like this
"to laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. this is to have succeeded!"
yeah, thats what life is about!

Even with the best attitude and positive thinking, we are all forgettable. It does not bother me, in fact in many ways it is what makes me see what should be big things or troubling events in life, as simply today's headline and nothing to worry about in the bigger picture of reality.

That's okay, we're all here embracing mortality together. I was pretty bummed when I realised I wasn't going to own a little baby lion. Sometimes the delusion even comes back to haunt me a little. Fortunately I spend most time living for now.
You'll be a long time dead. Live this life!
Nice quote infamous!
