Not quite sure why you jump from 'persecution' to 'political upheavels' in the next breath.

Jesus DID say that his followers would be persecuted. If JW's are persecuted solely for obeying Jesus commands somehow then fair enough Eg, refusing to take up arms in Nazi Germany during WW2; I actually think JW's anti-Hitler stance and the subsequent persecution they suffered was highly commendable. The problem with JW's however is that 90% of the time they are 'persecuted' for following strange, legalistic interpretations of the Watchtower Society rather than purely for obeying Jesus (eg, refusing to do alternative non-military service for refusing to take, or not purchasing a one-party political card, or not having blood-transfusions).

Political upheavals, the "end", and persecution go hand in hand for a JW.

It's covered any way you look at it. If they're persecuted, it's cuz they're gods people. If they arent, it's from his protection on his happy people.

If the numbers dwindle, it's the love of the greater number cooling off. If there is an increase, it shows jahs blessing. Ya just can't loose if you're a witness!

What kind of a question is that, Minimus? Are you now Alex Trebek, giving us an answer to which we must provide the question?

Okay then, how about: "What is true?"

It is not a form of religious persecution for anyone to say and show that another religion is false. It is not religious persecution for an informed person to expose publicly a certain religion is false, thus allowing persons to see the difference between false religion and true religion. WT 11-15-63

Tell the next jw who pulls out the persecution the above statement from their own literature. Then, find the most current REAL persecution case of a real Christian, such as the three young girls who were beheaded on their way to their Christian school. Things like getting beheaded, beaten, tortured, raped, etc... those are persecution, not someone who simply disagrees with you or even finds your organization evil. That usually shuts them up about being persecuted.

the religious persecution complex has been well analyzed by nietzsche. according to him, viewing one's group as persecuted draws the herds together in their resentment. it provides weak people with an outlet for their will to power. persecution gives meaning to a christian life: it's a cut that gives a christian reason to live. the absence of suffering is an absence of a reason for the christian to live.

Do they have a persecution complex? They persecute others so they deserve to be themselves harassed from time to time. I will not be aggrieved if that happens. As for the end coming it's all wishful thinking on their part they said it so many times but it never occured.

I thought Jesus said his followers would be persecuted on account of his NAME.

Count how often Jesus is actually mentioned in a meeting. Prayer excepted.

If you say "the Lord Jesus" or "Christ" they are visibly embarrassed, and practically scream JEHOVAH at the first opportunity.

Not that I have an issue with the Latinized form of the Name.
