    G'day all,

The good thing about the holidays (downunder it's the summer break) is that we can catch up our reading.

So the day after Boxing day, off to the bookshop went Mrs Ozzie and I.

Mrs Ozzie seemed almost keen to look for books on cults. that's quite unlike her, perhaps because she doesn't usually read 'em but as for me, well, I was most reluctant. I've had enough! I said. They just bore me to tears.

Anyway Mrs Ozzie showed me a couple and she bought them

    Guess what? I'm reading them!!

The first is the latest? (2001) by Ron Rhodes "The 10 Most Important Things You Can Say to a Jehovah's Witness". It's written in a user-friendly style and hey! I need to be treated user-friendly!!! It has icons throughout indicating such things as "A witnessing tip", "An important point", "The Watchtower position" and so on. What really annoyed me was his liking for referring to the Watchtower Society by the initials "WS"; for crying out loud, it makes me wonder about someone who can't use "WTS" or even "WTBTS"! I would also question the wisdom of his including his important point #6 "The Biblical God is a Trinity" - I wonder whether I'd include that as one of the most imporatnt thing to say to a dub, but it's there! I am glad though that right at the top of the pile on his list is "The Watchtower Society Does Not Speak for God". That's more like it! Show the organisation is false, whilst separating the dub from the org. Not a bad addition to our library. We got it at Koorong A$10.95.

The other book was from two authors I haven't read before, John Ankerberg and John Weldon; it's called "Fast Facts on Jehovah's Witnesses". Fast it's certainly not, but quite readable. We got the 2003 edition. It's written for non-witnesses and has a chapter on "What to say to a JW". Not bad. It cost us A$13.95

If you've got nothing better to read these holidays, you could do far worse than read these two - yep, go for it!

Ozzie:I can understand why they would call it WS, given that it is actually only two words, and they weren't used to abbreviating Watchtower to Wt.

It's beyond me why anyone would encourage a discussion on the Trinity with a JW. It's a topic I actively discourage people from bringing up. It doesn't impress, but rather draws people into an argumentative mode.

Nice to see you're keeping up your studies

Amen.... my Scotish heathen apaostate bastard brother!

If a bunch of ex-dub apostates can't settle the trinity issue with 10 pages of posts......how the heck you gonna convince a bunch of brainwashed robots to consider a contrary opinion?

Books that expose the Watchtowers botched past and that destroys the foundation it rests on works much better. Books that use the Watchtowers own literature quotes that contradict each other are victorious over dogmatic doctrinal discussions.

Besides, there is more evidence against the trinity doctrine than there is for it when you use secular history as a means to discuss it rather than the bible as a sole means to do so.

*runs like a nervous cheetah from Ozzie and LT*

actually, a lot of books - CD-s - DVD's are on SALE at the moment.

Viv and I went shopping today - and incidentially - came at the book corner .....

we went home with (I think) 8 books, 9 DVD's - all just for fun or just very interesting... none of them even far related to the WT...

It's gonna be a fine "next week"

Oz, weren't you warned by the FDS that apostate literature would shipwreck your faith?
