Someone gave me a little book many years ago that was nothing but one-line sentences, starting with the words, "I've learned that . . ." and followed by the age of the author. Some of these little sentences were hilarious such as; " I've learned that if I turn my ice cream cone upside down, I don't have an ice cream cone anymore. Age 8". And some were very wise such as; "I've learned that losing my job at age 55 was the best thing that could ever happen to my life. Age 60". Anyway, I thought it might be interesting to hear what you here have learned, using this format. You can add as many lines as you like of course. No rules. You don't have to state your age if you don't wanna. Here's one of mine:

"I've learned that no one nor any group has total truth, regardless if they say they do." Age 50

..........I shoulda been happy when I turned 50. Aged 60

Here's something a friend of mine sent me a while back. It has a bunch of "I've learned..." bits to it. Enjoy!!

Somewhere between the *procrastination* and the homework.. and the incessant forwards and the friendships and the calls to each other complaining about CrUsHeS and BF/GF!! Somewhere between the phone calls to old
and the "I miss you's", the "I love you's" and
    the "
What are we doing tonight's?" And somewherebetween all of the changing and growing...
between the classes and the skipping
...and the StUdYiNg for teStS...And thePRETENDING to "StUdY" for TeStS...
    And the
    downright NOT StUdYiNg for TeStS...
    I forgot--I forgot what
    ScHooL was all about.

Somewhere between all the appointments, starbuck coffee, and Mc Donald's... paying bills and then not paying bills...Making plans then breaking plans... Appearing, Disappearing,
    then reappearing
... I forgot--I forgot what it was like to cry. I forgot that pretending to be happy doesn't make you happy... And that pretending to
SmArT doesn't make you smart .. I forgot that you can't just forget the past infear of the FUTURE... I forgot that you
    control falling in LoVe..
And that you can't make yourself
in *LoVe*.... I learned that I can LOVE... I learned that it's okay to MEsS UP....
    And it's okay to
ask for HELP!!!.. And it's okay to feel like crap... I learned it's okay to cOmPLaiNand wHINe to all your friends for a whole day........
    I learned that
sometimes the things you wantmost you just can't have and the things that you look for are right in front of you.I learned that the greatest thing about HiGh ScHOoL and CoLLeGe and the working worldit isn't about the parties or the DRiNKiNG or the Hookups ...

It's the *FrIeNdShIpS*, which means taking chances.
    I learned that
sometimes the things we want to forget are the things which we most need to talk about...
    I learned that
TIME and LOVEcan heal all things...
I learned that just when you
think it can't get worse - it does! ...
    but with the
love and support of friends - you survive...
I've learned that when you start feeling
    BaD about L O S I N G touch and about those that you've lost!
    They too, are feeling the
    same way....

I learned that letters from friends are the most important things. And that sending cards to your friends makes you feel better! But, basically, I just learned
    that my friends........ Both
old and new..... are the most important
people to me in the world AND.......without them, I
    wouldn't be whoI am today.....

Ooo, and I found a few more that I thought you guys might enjoy:

    As I've Matured...
I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in...
I've learned that one good turn gets most of the blankets.
I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people are just jackasses.
I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and it only takes suspicion, not proof, to destroy it.
I've learned that whatever hits the fan will not be evenly distributed.
I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to others - they are more screwed up than you think.
I've learned that depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.
I've learned that it is not what you wear; it is how you take it off.
I've learned that you can keep vomiting long after you think you're finished.
I've learned to not sweat the petty things, and not pet the sweaty things.
I've learned that ex's are like fungus, and keep coming back.
I've learned age is a very high price to pay for maturity.
I've learned that I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.
I've learned that we are responsible for what we do, unless we are celebrities.
I've learned that artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.
I've learned that 99% of the time when something isn't working in your house, one of your kids did it
I've learned that there is a fine line between genius and insanity.
I've learned that the people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon and all the less important ones just never go away. And the real pains in the ass are permanent.

I have to grow where I'm planted - age 38

Don't sweat the small stuff and it's all small stuff - age 37

I need to park my ego at the door to avoid annoyance- age 41
