    Hey all,

I'm just kicking it here in Japan, sipping some sake and listening to tunes. Right now I am chilling to some New Order. What's the story on these guys? Are they ex-dubs?

    New Order

    True Faith

    I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
    A sudden sense of liberty
    I don't care 'cause I'm not there
And I don't care if I'm here tomorrow
Again and again I've taken too much
Of the things that cost you too much

    (Chorus)
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

When I was a very small boy,
Very small boys talked to me
Now that we've grown up together
They're afraid of what they see
That's the price that we all pay
Our valued destiny comes to nothing
    I can't tell you where we're going
I guess there was just no way of knowing

I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

    I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
    A sudden sense of liberty
The chances are we've gone too far
You took my time and you took my money
Now I fear you've left me standing
In a world that's so demanding

I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

New Order used to be Joy Division until Ian Curtis committed suicide. I used to love Joy Division, really powerful music but incredibly depressing. New Order formed straight afterward but the music changed to a more electronic feel.
New Order, dont know about JW's but the name certainly sounds like it has Freemason origins.

    Run Wild

    Open hearts
    Empty spaces
    Dusty roads
    To distant places
    But all the time
    When I'm alone
    I think of you
    And how you've grown

    Far and wide
    Sweet and simple
    Jehovah knows
    That I've been sinful
But if Jesus comes to take your hand
    I won't let go, I won't let go

    I'm not cruel
    And you're not evil
    And we're not like
    All those stupid people
    Who can't decide
    Which book to read
    Unless the paper
    Sows deceit

    You're the kind of person
That I've always wanted to be with
    We'll you're really cool
And you always say the right things to me
But now I'll tell you something
From my heart beats for you deep inside
    But never be a burden
And my love for you will never die, never die, never die, never die, never die

But if Jesus comes to take your hand
    I won't let go, I won't let go

But if Jesus comes to take your hand
    I won't let go, I won't let go

    Good times around the corner
    Good times around the corner
    Good times around the corner
    I swear it's getting warmer
    Good times around the corner
    Good times around the corner
    Good times around the corner

I'm gonna live 'til I die
I'm gonna live to get high

In June 1980, the month after Curtis had taken his life, Joy Division released 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' It's fantastic!
Many UK DJ's consistently rate it as the finest British 'pop' single ever.

    Love will tear us apart

    When routine bites hard
    and ambitions are low.
    And resentment rides high
    but emotions won't grow.
    And we're changing our ways
    taking different roads.

Love, love will tear us apart again.
Love, love will tear us apart again.

Why is the bedroom so cold
    turned away on your side?
    Is my timing that flawed
    our respect run so dry?
    Yet there's still this appeal
that we've kept through our lives.

Love, love will tear us apart again.
Love, love will tear us apart again.

Do you cry out in your sleep,
    all my failings expose?
Gets a taste in my mouth
    as desperation takes hold.
Why is it something so good
    just can't function no more?

Love, love will tear us apart again.
Love, love will tear us apart again.
Love, love will tear us apart again...

    Wow, good find, Blondie!

Nicolau, listening to the song you mention right now. (Yay for subscription music!)

The lead singer for New Order is Bernard Sumner. The bassist is Peter Hook.

When interviewed circa 1987 on mtv Peter Hook was asked if he was a Jehovah Witness. He looked at Bernard Sumner and said (in a thick british accent) "No, not me, though Barnie here, is." Bernard Sumner then said that he studied for a little while, but isn't a Jehovah's Witness. Bernard Sumner literally spoke about 6 words on the subject. I've never seen anything else about it.

True Faith is about recovering from drug addiction. (I guess the dubs could be likened to that).

    I watched this interview myself.

Oh New Order, one of my all-time favorites. True Fatih is great, I also love

Touched by the Hand of God

I was standing by the ocean when I saw your face I couldn't look at you
I guess you knew it but I never realised that we were through
And now I'm down here all alone with every feeling that I own you can't take that away
And with every breath we take and the illusions we create will come to you someday

And I was touched by the hand of God
I never knew it, but of course I was

I never hoped to do the things in this world I wanted to
Because everything I own, it belongs to you
I've never looked at you in a sexual way in my life before
And I've never woken up like this so desparately before

And I was touched by the hand of God
I never knew it, but of course I was

    (and the video rocked too!)

Wow, I always used to be under the impression that their gimmick was to give titles to their songs that had absolutely nothing to do with the lyrics, but now I see that it might not be the case. I also thought this song was about drug addiction but hey it works for WTS addiction.

Both Joy division and New order have been fairly controversial in the past because of the Nazi implications of their Names and have had (in the beginning anyway)a far right following.

Personally i think the only offensive thing they ever did was allow John Barnes to rap with them!
