    Jeremiah 23:19-20

Look! The windstorm of Jehovah, rage itself, will certainly go forth, even a whirling tempest. Upon the head of the wicked ones it will whirl itself. 20 The anger of Jehovah will not turn back until he will have carried out and until he will have made the ideas of his heart come true. In the final part of the days YOU people will give YOUR consideration to it with understanding.

    Anyone else considering this?

Not, IMHO, anything to do with divine intervention.

Then Jehovah must love mountain people, as his winds are pretty selective.

@jgnat: except for the fact that the entire left side of that graphic is in extreme drought conditions and having lots of fun with forest fires. So perhaps, he doesn't like the US in general.

Remember those borders are artificial. We have the equivalent continuing up north, and our permafrost is melting. As far as prophecy goes, though, it does not match.

The city of Calgary just experienced a record-breaking flood. The storm, which dumped six inches of rain in two days, seemed more tropical than temperate. No wonder, the warm, moist air was pulled up from the Gulf of Mexico.

Obviously that selected scripture is using symbolic language. It's not about bad weather... unless it's literally very, very small weather phenomena happening on top of people's heads...

"Upon the head of the wicked ones it will whirl itself."

It's about "the wicked" being mentally dazed and confused, imo.

    Psalm 144:6

Flash forth lightning and scatter them; Send out Your arrows and confuse them.

What we are seeing now isn't anywhere near close as bad.

That makes me feel much better. I'm sure our grandchidren will thank us for our foresight and the self-sacrficing spirit we have shown wrt to our use of the finite resource available on this planet. To be honest, i don't think it could have turned out any differently. It should have, but it did not. Maybe next time.

When global warming first came out as a threat, I thought, "Big deal". We could use a couple degrees warmer here in Canada anyways. What I did not grasp was the enormity of it all. Warmer temperatures on average, mean greater energy in our storm systems. Melting polar caps means more moisture in those systems, which means more extreme weather. Deserts are dryer, wet is wetter, and our carefully managed contingency systems cannot cope.

I do hope that more will be done to prevent further warming of our planet.

As an aside, every human being puts out as much energy as a 60 watt bulb every day. In National Geographic's "what if" scenario, if all people were removed from the earth, the entire planet would drop in temperature by several degrees.
