They now have their own web-site here: http://www.jah-jireh.org/index.html

Click onto the "News" section to see an excerpt from their new promotional video. The bit about the 15 grandmothers had me close to tears, I can tell you!

I wonder if DF'd ex's are allowed to visit their infirm relatives?

    Hi Englishman,

    Hope you're feeling much better.

With regard to the Jah-Jireh homes, I notice it emphasises being a charity. But does this mean that the Elderly witnesses have to pay to be there. Surely no care home can manage without payment from the residents and that being the case and fees varying from one hundred and fifty pounds a week to well over five hundred depending on the amount of care needed, the place is a business not a charity.

What about the carers. Aren't they paid the minimum wage or can the JWs get away with less if they say they're a charity?

Sounds like the associates are the cash collectors.

I couldn't get onto the video link. It wouldn't connect.

Wouldn't they be set up as every other nursing/residential home in that a charity is set up so that any money made from fund raising events and donations would be tax free?

Whether the resident pays for care or it is subsidised by the government would depend on the individual circumstances. I don't think the Watchtower Society makes any money from them as it is a private business venture.

It's a private business I believe. We know someone who used to work there and was paid very little but of course it's better to be working for "brothers" instead of evil worldly people who pay a decent wage.

Probably taking advantage of the closed community and 'good will'.

Private business venture which the owner Eddie Delaney obtained permission from the WTBTS to set up and use the name Jah-Jireh

Strange one this. It certainly seems to seems to doing very well! Their income exceeded expenditure by over 600,000 UK Pounds in 2003. And, remember that even though they are a charity, it is no guarantee that they don't pay the trustees handsomely.

    Details are at the following link;

It is also interesting to note that all the trustees are men.

Yes..it wouldn't do to allow these sisters to have delusions of equality!

I am assuming then that Eddie Dalaney is a 'brother in good standing in the congregation' then and making a reasonable profit himself then. I understand, and do not begrudge him his profit, except that when reading the Jah Jireh site their bulletin was complaining about the govt. not paying enough into care homes and many homes going out of business because of this. Hence, pleading poverty and inviting charitable contributions. Interesting to see that the Jah Jireh homes do not have this problem. But then they do have a captive clientele, in a manner of speaking.

A member of my family and some friends worked in these homes and believe me they are not a charity or endorced by the society

The old people are well looked after, but this is because of the dedicated staff . And yes they are charged like I said its a business not a charity. there is nothing wrong with that, but its the staff and how they are treated that the problem

I heard many "alledged" distubing stories of emotional blackmail by the owners to the staff. He would constantly get them to do things you wouldnt put up with in a worldly workplace, and many didnt, they have a large turnover of staff

They have many pioneers working there, that begin with grand promises, which soon turn into over work and under paid. I now feel quite worked up inside remembering what I was told about this "brother"
