Today was the first of the two parter series on browbeating the inactive to get back to the meetings.

My other half who has been inactive for a short while received an email from a "friend" who's still in, acknowledging it's been a while since they last made contact and could they stop by to see how we're doing?

The moment of truth - friends who ignore you and make no effort to contact you when you leave suddenly get a guilt trip over an article in the Watchtower.

Anyone else here had their door bell rung, received a phone call or email from a "concerned" friend due to this study article, or is it still early days?

So far I have not had a call . But I really don't expect to and I don't know that I want someone calling just because of a WT article. If it's not from the heart, then what's the point? That's just my opinion.

Agreed Crapola, this is simply how they react.

I mean, if they bothered with us before the article, it would be a different thing and the article suggests giving those you haven't seen for a while a phone call but we're not talking about people we weren't close with we're talking about people who were considered friends.

I was chatting to an old friend who is in her mid thirties with teenage children, she has been gone from the WTS about 15 years, with all her immediate family still active.

they shun her resolutely except for her Mum - who calls her twice a year to see if she has repented. WTF.

I daresay WT articles like this help her Mum to remember to call her daughter.

    Nope.

But then, as an evil, blood drinking, Molech moon worshipper, I expected as much.

Hi Guys! I posted this comment and another tread:

    -------------------------------

It was very funny, but early this morning I received 2 text messages from my "friends", and a call in our answering machine from an Elder. They are "worried about us", they "miss us", etc etc.

Now I noticed that TODAY's WT article was this!!! HELP THOSE WHO STRAY FROM THE FLOCK

    He he he.

Hubby Gladring had made a note of the date of this WT study when the mag came out back in back in Oct/Nov. We were expecting a few phonecalls, txt messages and even a house call or two. So far we've had one txt message. Period. Can u feel the love?!!

So I've decided to use reverse pschology! I've contacted some JWs I would have consider to be friends once upon a time. Just a short, "Hi how are you? haven't seen you in a while." - the kinda junk I'd expect from them. No reply so far. Guess I've been "marked".

    Oh well!

Good one Amha'aret. That'll throw them off.

I always enjoyed going to a meeting after being away for a while. You'd always get the self righteous jerks who would come up to you and make a show. "We've missed you brother" they'd say. And I'd reply with equally fake warmth something like "I know, we've been worried about you, but it's good to see you're making the effort to be here", and then walk away before they get a chance to respond.
