...has there ever been a case of a member of this board committing suicide that you know of? Clearly it's difficult to gauge since you wouldn't hear from them again but has anyone ever suddenly disappeared after making increasingly depressive posts? Or left a suicidal message?
I just wondered after reading the "does the WBTS attract mentally ill people?" thread.
Yes. One was pretty popular. Friends of his reported his passing a year or two ago.

Oh dear. That is sad. I thought there had to be a fair chance of it. I think whilst posting somewhere like this is helpful, people need a listening ear in real life too.

With all the crap the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger puts out, it is no wonder that people have trouble breaking totally free. The Washtowel Society steals people's lives. They lose experiences that they are never able to regain, even if they leave the Washtowel Society totally. High school experiences are drab for the witlesses--and they are worst for those whose parents are strict in the cancer.
Otherwise, I would expect the suicide rate among posters on these boards to be near to moderately above average. Why? Simply because of the bad experiences that the Washtowel Society has caused them (embarrassments, persecution, never being good enough) and losing out on good (college, dating, the hounders, etc). Add to it that the hounders do not give up hounding people, and they often lead to suicides and homicides. That is what the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger wants--if they cannot hold onto or recapture them, they would just as soon have the apostates dead. In fact, if they get their way, they would go out and stone to death anyone that will not be recaptured and live as a witless.
yes, her name was faye, she used to post here as chimpy or chimpgirl for a while, but i knew her better in real life than on the boards.

I know of 3 young people in their early teens who were introduced to the JWS by their parents that committed suicide, one actually hung himself behind a Kingdom Hall in a garage.
Human Psychology being what it is particular with insecure sensitive young people and then getting connected to a apathetic power hungry, money hungry Corporation
and you can guess there is going to be some problems .
The very sick part of it is, the organization will not accept any responsibility for what they may have indirectly caused, another case of blood on their hands of the innocent .
But the magazines did sell well did they not.

I know that meds., therapy and JWD have gone a long way to restore a sense of self worth to many WT survivors.
Years of learning of your imperfect sinfulness is not unlearned in any less time.
